Find out what Seafood restaurants to try in Kyoto. Kyoto is Japan's most traditional city. The lush and verdant cityscape encompasses sprawling rock gardens, vast palaces, and tall temples. The streets are alive with businessmen hurrying past Geiko and Makio in their full kimono, both on their way to work along cherry-tree lined walks. A historic hub that celebrates Japanese culture, from kabuki to textile weaving, Kyoto can also be surprisingly modern. It is one of Japan's largest, busiest, and most visited cities, with packed shopping mega-centers and high-rise offices. Suffused with shrines, outdoor markets, and nature walks, the small but bountiful location is also home to some of Japan's most contemporary architectural marvels, hippest cafes and eateries, and modish local brands and shops. It makes Kyoto a playful and sublime city, studded with as many bars and hole-in-the-wall fried food shops along the Kamogawa river as it is suffused with ancient ryokan and delicate wagashi shops. Kyoto is in the cross-hairs of Japan's most artful past and its energetic present.

I'll be able to tell my grandkids that I ate at Beer Komachi before it became a huge enterprise. In January 2019, it will close for two months and when it reopens, it will double in size. I hope it doesn't lose its wonderful cosiness or its inventive ability to use every single spare bit of space. The beers are the best - everything from IPAs to stouts, in a city which sometimes seems as if it awash with Asahi and Sapporo. Because of its tininess, you end up chatting to half the bar, which is quite fun as locals are fantastically generous with suggestions of what to do when in Kyoto for ten days (top tip: return to Komachi). The beer is not the only good aspect here though - the food is simple and delicious and a bargain, including a plate of smoked goodies with fish, eggs, turnip, fish roe. A very happy afternoon in here tasting great local beer and hearty food. The woman who was running the place on the day we went was wearing a Mikkeller shirt. That's the legendary Copenhagen bar and brewery. A great sign.Thank you JennaPrice! We will definitely try to keep same ambience and atmosphere after reopen new Beer Komachi in mid March. We hope to see you again at new Beer Komachi sometime!

We had 2 different starters (vegetables and assorted fruit / vegetables), one grilled tuna and the assorted tuna which can be prepared at a pan. Service appeared extremely incompetent - actually worst service experience we had in Japan. Bunch of kids chatting around and completely ignoring the (few) guests which were present. Starters were rather poor so we were looking forward to the tuna. Unfortunately, also huge disappointment here too. Relied on good reviews here on TripAdvisor, let me unfortunately again conclude that reviews are highly fluctuated as tourists from us / Europe apparently have poor judgment as to quality of tuna. Also be prepared to leave the restaurant with a decent smell of grilled fish as the restaurant has de facto no ventilation.Best thing was definitely the gin tonic - of which I had 3 in close order to leave the restaurant with a good mood - to enjoy the rest of the evening at another place.

We have been doing Sushi restaurant more than 50 years. Mitsuru, 3rd generation of the restaurant, has been abroad. He can speak English.
We loved that place, order different sushi, tempura and of course sachimi. All was delicious and fresh. Lovly family runs the reataurant. We had a filing to be in japanese family. Everything was served with love. Recommended. The price was nearly 100$ thats not expensive for the amount we ordered. Enjoyâï¸
