If you don't try this restaurant then your experience of the Palestinian food and culture is incomplete. I have been to this place by coincidence and was very happy with the delicious special food they serve but more the hospitable service they offer.
At this place you feel as king or queen served by the most hospitable waiters. In Nablus hospitality is not taught but part of culture.
The place serve specialized meals other than usual Palestinian dishes.
Wherever I go in the world this place remains my best.

AlKoni serves the famous Nablus dessert, knafe, which people from all over love to eat. I even learned how to make it myself but mine is a bit different. The shredded dough layers are filled with either white cheese or walnuts and cinnamon and is covered with a syrup with rose water. AlKoni made his knafe with the right amount of salt, sweet, and cheese combo (I did not get the one with the walnuts.). It is so worth the trip. It is served warm and do watch out at overeating it. Take home the rest. There was another sweet we ordered to try but I didn't like it as much. It's made with phyllo dough, nuts and a honey syrup...too sweet for me. I preferred the knafe. You can have coffee or water to go with it at the small Seating area. The owner has been known to change people around to different tables (there are only 4 or 5) to accommodate families. There are times when the crowd of people is extensive. Go when you can enjoy the warmth of the dessert and when you can get a table. We got there about 2:30 on a Saturday afternoon. The sweets are available for Takeout, of course. By the way, each large piece was 5 shekels which is about $1.25 each. The only reason I gave it 4 stars is because it's one of those holes in the wall that may actually offend some, plus the dessert is served on and with plastic. Snobs and greenies would object.

Located inside the Macca Mall on the 2nd floor. You might find it first by the smell of Hookah. The menu is available in Arabic and English. There is a wide range of appetizers, sandwich's, main entrees like pesto chicken, & beef fajitas (as well as many others), several pizzas to choose from, lots of coffee, drinks, desserts and a list of shisha (flavored tobacco-hookah) to choose from. There is indoor Seating as well as "outdoor" Seating which are tables located in the mall hallway.
The prices are great. The food was all very tasty and big portions. Enough for us to take home leftovers. Hussein was especially friendly and the waiter understood our English and broken Arabic.
