Things to do in Lappeenranta
We were trying to find some alternative for the over-priced and quite poor quality hotel restaurants while staying at Holiday Club Saimaa. This pub looked very unappealing, but we were pleasantly surprised by the food. The service was a bit quirky, as we seemed to be somewhat untypical visitors in this place, but friendly enough and we got everything we wanted. The meatballs were excellent, the chicken basket very nice and the hash browns okay. And most importantly, for a fair price. The locals did eye us suspiciously and the place was not very child-friendly (when leaving at 16.50 on a Friday, we noticed a sign on the door saying that the pub was forbidden for minors from 17 onwards on weekdays and all day on Saturdays, so we got out just in time), but for a quick early dinner it was alright.

Tried out this new Mexican place. Food is quite good, service is very friendly and atmosphere is ok. The problem here is the waiting time. We went there on Sunday, a day not much is on in Lappeenranta. We found maybe 10 other guest and three servers. But guess what. It took so long! Everything! Till we got the drinks, maybe 20 minutes. Then half an hour for the food and finally another 20 minutes till we could pay. This is a shame, as the food is fair, good quality and generous servings. So, if you are not in a hurry, it's fine, otherwise you better look for alternatives.
..and a quite cozy one, too. I like to see the drubadours that are visiting here once in a while. I think they are the most astmospheric thing this place has. Big screens to watch some Finnish sports aswell, when on.

I have enjoyed this bar many times. You can really get tanned in there if it's sunny day, they have lying chairs! Not so expensive than you might expect considering the location and views from terrace.

They have terrace outside. Inside is kind of a sport bar and quite large. Great selection of beers and ciders, but unfortunately service was really slow. There weren't that many customers, but when someone asks this and other one that, it took too much time. When the place is crowded, that might be a problem.
