Tuna subs are good...burgers are okay...It's the pizza and chicken fingers that are lacking. Essex Pizza is next door to JR's/the former Vintage restaurant, and their fries pale in comparison, but as far as lunch or dinner convenience goes, the subs are okay for the price. I'd skip the pizza, though.

After walking around the wharf we were looking for a lunch place that wasnât seafood, stumbled upon the little place. This was a completely surprising experience for us. Boy did we get more than an ordinary pizza. The crust was a delightful chewy. And the vegetarian Mars Attacks (with breaded eggplant) was amazing, garlicky cheesy deliciousness. Also liked the funky eclectic decor. Very happy with the quick service as well.

We tried white pizza and traditional cheese pizza this time. The white was dry, short on cheese, with a burned bottom crust. The last time that we tried it, it was delicious. The traditional cheese was good--certainly compared to the white pizza. This is very thin pizza--more like a quesadilla than a traditional pizza. We'd say it wasn't worth indulging in pizza at Prides Pizza. Side garden salad was predominately lettuce with few tomatoes or other vegetables.

I think I am the one that suggested adding this restaurant to Trip Advisor. It is the favorite for my grandkids who live in Essex. Lots of unusual pizzas (and some traditional) in an upscale environment (it is of course in Manchester by the sea). Very friendly service. Close to the rail line for easy pick up to go.
