Where to eat Barbecue food in Canyon Lake: The Best Restaurants and Bars
Papa Kel's gets its name from the owner Kelly Best. It's a small place that does mainly take-out, but has two tables and some cafe-style stools by the window. The prices are just a tad higher than the chain stores, but the quality outshines them all. Their large is really a large. Kel is definitely not stingy with the toppings too! If you are staying at any of the resort places in the area it's a great place for a good meal to eat there or take back to the room. I believe they have delivery too, but I'm not sure. Unfortunately, if you are staying at the Silverleaf resort near it, their list of area restaurants doesn't list it, and the one pizza place they do list is closed. Well, whaddya expect from a hotel that has no form of Internet in the rooms.
We loved the crust and fresh meats and veggies.....the people were very nice as well. Got the Big Daddy Pizza and loved every bit of it!
First I want to say the staff was very friendly and the quality of the pizza was very good. However, the quality and taste of the pizza was hard to digest with paying just over $15.00 for a medium pizza with pepperoni, mushroom and onions. They also have sub sandwiches.
Ordered their XL (which is really a medium) 3 topping, it was $18 and change. Crust was flat, prefab, and tasteless. Toppings were sparse. But at least the mushrooms werenât canned. Service was good and the guy at the counter was friendly. This is the only pizza place in town, so if youâre really jonesing for a pizza, itâs acceptable. But if youâre hoping for a delicious pie, youâre gonna be disappointed.
In my opinion this is a nice place enjoy a quiet lunch. Their menu off errs a little bit of everything. We had the calzones, which turned out good however the crust a little too thick for our tastes. I would recommend this place to anyone in the area.
