The Pearl of the Mediterranean has an ambiance more in keeping with its neighbors to the north than with those in the Middle East. Site of Pharos lighthouse, one of the Wonders of the World, and of Anthony and Cleopatra’s tempestuous romance, the city was founded by Alexander the Great in 331 BCE. Today, Alexandria offers fascinating insights into its proud Greek past, as well as interesting mosques, the casino strip of the Corniche, some lovely gardens and both modern and traditional hotels. The best part about this amazing tour was our guide - Sam! He made all the difference. What I loved is that he didn’t just give facts - he gave us the story of it and made it very interesting and brought this ancient history to life. Also he did it with a smile and humor. He went above and beyond for us and this was during Ramadan where he was fasting and it literally was 105 in Cairo. I plan on going back to Cairo and my first request will be if Sam is available.

Our group of 24 were upgraded to the Sonesta St. George River Boat for our Nile Cruise. It is a beautiful boat and experience. The staff was attentive and provided excellent service. I celebrated my birthday on the cruise and they made the celebration extra special. I highly recommend this for a 3 night trip. The stops along the way were well timed and enjoyable. The food was beautifully presented and delicious!

I didn’t know much about the Black or White deserts in Egypt until I saw a TripAdvisor review of Tamer Safari. I am so glad that I booked this tour as the landscapes are truly unique. The tour included a pickup and drop from my hotel in Cairo. After arriving in the Bharaiya oasis, we had lunch and set off to go driving through the national parks stopping at various locations to view the natural wonders. We then set up camp in the middle of the White desert and the staff cooked a huge meal. Sleeping under the stars in my tent was very peaceful. I had breakfast at the camp site the next morning before seeing some more sites. Finally, I tried sand boarding down a huge sand dune. After having lunch, the staff drive me back to Cairo. I only did the 2 day/1 night package but if you can do a longer tour, you won’t regret it.

I had a great time with Hossam on my photo tour. I was expecting to walk around and have some pictures taken, but it was SO MUCH MORE. Hossam is a really great guy. He communicated with me before the tour and made accommodations for my schedule. My flight landed late and he even waited for me (almost 2 hours). Once we began, I was really nervous because I never know what to do or how to pose... He made me feel totally comfortable. As we did the photos, he explained a lot to me about the history and the culture of Egypt. We toured through several areas (the Pyramids, downtown and the big bazar Khan el Khalili) and he took some of the most amazing pictures that I've ever had. I highly recommend him.
