Bedford’s Corn Exchange was constructed in 1874 as a concert venue, meeting place and business centre with offices in the basement. The grand concert hall was used as the venue for the BBC Proms as well as performances by the likes of Bing Crosby and Glenn Miller during the Second World War when the BBC transferred much of its broadcasting operations from London to Bedford. Today it is home to up to 800 performances per year including music, drama and stand-up comedy.
