The Hook of Holland (Dutch: Hoek van Holland, pronounced [ˈɦuk fɑn ˈɦɔlɑnt] ( listen)) is a town in the southwestern corner of Holland (hence the name; hoek means "corner"), at the mouth of the New Waterway shipping canal into the North Sea. The town is administered by the municipality of Rotterdam as a district of that city. Its district covers an area of 16.7 km, of which 13.92 km is land. On 1 January 1999 it had an estimated population of 9,400.

Fantastic place for couples,families, disabled people are also catered for with a man made wheelchair friendly ramp down to the sea, loads of eateries, bars and a few shops.The beach is like caster sugar, when you come off the ferry from u.k. or whilst waiting for ferry to the u.k.or like we do arrive early on the beach for the day, have a lovely evening meal on the beach, then head off 5min drive to ferry, shower on the ship,wake up refreshed as you arrive in the u.k. in the morning.
