In addition, he provides very good service and takes good care of his customers. The place is highly recommended, for example after a round of golf, or with family or a Sunday dinner. Take a trip! My Kongsberg colleague told me:"We choose Restaurant Opsahlgarden when we want to take visitors someplace really special." After a marvelous 4-course dinner there on a recent summer evening, I understand why. The staff treats you like family, the food is great, and the whole experience is authentic Norwegian. That evening, three of us opted for the daily special, a 4-course dinner that included perfectly-portioned, perfectly made dishes. There were two fish courses, a beautiful little steak, and a tart with house-made ice cream. Each course was presented artistically on a black slate and paired with just the right amount of sauce and garnishes. Our fourth member of the party had a braised pork knuckle, a giant, slow-cooked wonder on the plate. Before the meal came, we were gifted with an amuse bouche, a marvelous little cup of cauliflower purée. There are good wind choices, but I recommend some of the house-brewed beer. There are quite a few, and all of the ones we tried were delicious. This restaurant is a must-do if you want a special evening in Kongsberg. Just don't be in a hurry. They know how to give you a complete evening here.

We wanted to find a restaurant that provide authentic Norwegian Cuisine I am so glad we found this absolutely diamond. The restaurant is located about ten minutes from the centre of Kongsberg. As a party of 10 people we asked the restaurant to provide a typical Norwegian meal and they did not disappoint. On arrival we were greeted by a very nice Waitress, very friendly, knowledgable and she provided an impeccable service. We were served an aperitif of local Aquavit, as we were shown to our seats, housed in the back room near the open kitchen which tortured us with tantalising aromas of our meal. Our first course was cream of lobster soup perfectly matched with French White Wine suggested by our waitress. I am not a a keen shellfish person and so I was a little wary of what the soup would be like but all my worries were immediately alleviated and I was left wanting more. The main course was a trio of Norwegian Game grills, consisting of Reindeer, Vension and Moose steaks served with a mushroom sauce, potatoes and broccoli. The meal again perfectly matched with a Spainsh Red Wine. Last but certainly not least our desert of Creme brûlée was the final course which was absolutely stunning. To allow the food to be digested we finished our evening with Cognac and coffee which with the great ambience of the room was the perfect ending to a perfect meal. Unfortuately I am unable to comment on the cost as the meal was paid by a local company but I am sure it was well worth the price.

The restaurant has recently been fully renovated and the workmanship was professional. It also has a nice garden for eating outdoors. The service was superb and the quality of the food very good. The majority of the menu is pizza, which was excellent, but appetisers and non-pizza main course was delicious

Sat outside in the sun during Jazz Week, listening to the Royal Garden Jazz band.Excellent Frydenlund beer and one of the best pizzas I have ever eaten. It can get a bit crowded, but then I would not expect anything else with food and drink like that.

My wife and I recently had dinner at this restaurant and very much enjoyed the food. I would have easily given this place 5 stars if the service was better. In fact, it was really not good at all. Mistakes by the server and long waits detracted from the quality of what was being served. That said, I would certainly give them another go to see if this is an ongoing issue. We started with a delicious scallop dish and then shared an excellent veal dish. We opted out of desert for fear it would take too long to get it to us.
