For $10 per person, Johnny’s boats will take you out and pick you up from this beautiful mangrove fringed cay. This is a great place for swimming and relaxing. There are many shaded picnic tables to have lunch so bring a cooler packed with snacks and drinks. I really enjoyed spending a few hours here.

Closed on Mondays Pack your cooler with food and beverages and drive to Playa Rosada early in the morning to choose picnic tables near the brick barbecue grill. Playa Rosada is a Caribbean Sea pool with a net to keep larger fishes from entering the pool. A wooden deck frames the pool

An experience not to be missed! Try to go during a new moon, when the dinoflagelates sparkling in the water dazzle even brighter than the countless twinkling stars above. The bay is inky black except for the distant glow of light over the horizon. Ismael from Aleli tours gives a custom experience for whichever you like: full of information, or quiet and meditative. The drive to La Parguera is a great chance to see more of Puerto Rico than just San Juan. Lajas had several options for dining and there was live music at a small bandstand. A couple of us swam a bit in the bay and others stayed dry and splashed hands, also admiring the twinkling wake from the motion of the boat. Either way, it is magical. Reality is like flashes of white fairy lights; not the photoshopped neon blue glow of the images on YouTube. Experience this wonder of nature and don't let a fear of swimming or inexperience with kayaking stop you. Spending an hour in the quiet before midnight from the Aleli Tours boat, just drawing your hand through the water is still amazing. (We did not wear insect repellant and were not bothered by pests.)
