Djoudj National Bird Sanctuary

The Senegal River and surrounding wetlands host pelicans, pink flamingos as well asb many thousands migrating birds.

Reviewed By RedHeadPeter - London, United Kingdom

Based on a series of lakes and channels it teems with wildlife. Taken round with other groups on large and verysafe dinghys with life jackets. Many kinds of birds but the Pelicans were most impressive, gang-fishing, in-line flying and the vast baby pelican nursery.

Parc National du Niokolo-Koba

Reviewed By beachbummer75 - Singapore, Singapore

We stayed at Nioko lodge for 2 nights to fully explore the place. It was deep inside - 37km from gate and mandatory to be accompanied by guide The park is truly amazing It’s pristine and not as commercial as other parks Every evening we had spectacular views of the greenery and river where you can sight hippos, crocodiles, birds and baboons in their natural environment. We did walks in the morning and evenings for animal sighting and learn more about the park. We went on full day excursion around the park with the guide and saw deer, more birds, hogs and other animals as well. We did want to take the boat ride but it was not available. It takes a lot of effort to clear the paths, keep the waterholes filled with water in dry season and other tasks to maintain the park. We appreciate the efforts of the team behind the scenes. All are very passionate about nature, talking enthusiastically about the animals and fauna I truly hope they will be able to ride through Covid and keep the good work in sharing the importance of preserving this last little pristine park in Senegal , and not let it be taken over by commercial activités.
