This is a beautiful gallery that honours the spirit and intent of well-known and respected Indigenous artists to showcase their histories and cultures. I love that the staff are knowledgeable about the artists and the artists' "craft". Lovely, tasteful venue, and easy to view items, Prices are reasonable for the high quality of the products. Relaxed atmosphere. A great place to buy gifts.

My wife and I have gone through many different local museums, but this one has the most varied collection. It goes from Paleontology to First Nations to pioneer days in the Cowichan Valley. I loved the variety of exhibits and it is clear a great deal of work and effort has gone into this museum. I particularly found the early history of Courtenay and the the Cowichan Valley interesting. If you enjoy local community museums, this one deserves a look.

During these times, it is mandatory to wear a face covering while visiting I-Hos Gallery. We do encourage our customers to follow our social distancing markers on the floor. Only six customers allowed at a time inside I-Hos Gallery. Proper glass guards installed around our counters. I-Hos Gallery presents a collection of traditional and contemporary Northwest Coast artwork, including masks, prints, gold and silver jewelry, wood carvings and more produced by First Nations artists. I-Hos Gallery is Band owned and operated by K'omoks First Nation. Our culture is expressed through our art. We are located between Courtenay and Comox on Vancouver Island, on the site of the original K’omoks Village. We deal directly with all of our First Nation artists and provide you with all legends and artist biographies. I-Hos Gallery is Band owned and operated by K'omoks First Nations and has been est. since 1995.
I just had the BEST experience with I-Hos Gallery. I placed an order online, and Ramona went above and beyond for customer service. If you're in the position to do some online shopping, I encourage you to keep I-Hos Gallery in mind for their quality of goods, amazing customer service, and you're supporting a small business - you won't be disappointed!!

A unique Canadian naval and military history museum centred around the HMCS ALBERNI Memorial. Displays include stories of Canadian soldiers in the Great War to the present day. Interactive displays and research materials make a visit to HAMM a family friendly experience. Periodic guest exhibits are incorporated into the more permanent displays on topics such as Anne Frank: A History for Today, War Brides: One Way Passage, and She Believed She Could and So She Did: the role of Canadian women during the Second World War.
This little museum located in downtown Courtenay is a gem of naval and military history of Canada. But it is not about guns and battles, but rather what a war time experience was like, both overseas, and at home. Based around a memorial to the crew of HMCS ALBERNI, a corvette from the Second World War, the displays expand out to include other aspects of the RCN, the Great War, and the other branches of the military. One gets a good feeling for life during those periods of conflict, and relationships that were forged and lives forever changed. This is a museum that tells many stories. For members there is an interesting lending library and a place to sit quietly to read from the collection for visitors.
Artful : The Gallery is where talented emerging and mid-career BC artists come to exhibit and sell their work. Located near the heart of downtown Courtenay, it is the working studio of multi-media artist Kristina Campbell. Come visit as an art lover, to learn about contemporary art on the west coast, as a collector looking to buy, or an artist looking for inspiration!
