The Durham Light Infantry Memorial is a nicely presented great looking statue in a well deserved prominent location outside the Town Hall. A fitting tribute to the many service men who fought and died for our country. You won't spend a whole lot of time here at eh statue, but a few minutes at the statue is all that is needed to remind us all of the sacrifice.

I love the market place and alway stand and study this statue. It’s great to see so many folk taking pictures, they are mostly overseas visitors who I’m sure will show their friends and family who will be encouraged to visit our City and County Durham which will bring in revenue for us xx

The Durham Market Square with its’s majestic statues, the cutest Market Hall selling everything under a roof, many decent eating places around... WHSmith with its classic stationery, the Barclays and HSBC Banks around, an Euro exchange travel bureau just a stones throw away... You have it all.... It is the heart of Durham with the pulse that is almost tangible... In the last ten days of my stay in Durham, whenever I would come towards the city, I would invariably sit in one of the benches in the Market Square and spend my time watching all the activities taking place... It looked to be the meeting point of many people... Students studying in Durham University would come to the Market Hall, some would grab a bite sitting on one of the benches... People would come along with their dogs and walk them around... A group of kindergarten students had come for a tour of the Market Hall and later they sprawled out in the Market Square making sketches of what they had seen... It is pure joy watching the hum-drum activities that constantly go on in the Market Square...

A striking statue, which will/should encourage folk to look into the history of our area. I can remember when this was commissioned and placed in Millennium Square, people where complaining about it (during the planning permission stage) thank God it was approved, I think it’s fantastic, go see it and enjoy the other facilities in the square x
