We loved unwinding at Spedelli's after a long work week, unfortunately, after our second "poor service" experience, we won't be returning. We sat down at the booth nearest the window and waited for 10 minutes for anyone to notice us. The waiter stopped at the table next to us several times, but never even looked at us. Out of frustration, I went up to the counter and asked for two menus and a waiter, only to wait 10 more minutes for nothing. There is absolutely no excuse for that so we walked out. It's too bad - I quite enjoyed a handful of their food and bar items.

Okay. This isn't a great Mexican restaurant. It's a "greasy spoon" with unforgettable, cookie cutter decor seen at countless Mexican food dives from coast to coast (more prevalent west of the Mississippi) However, on a Friday at 11:00 A.M., after a Thursday night of bar hopping, the smothered Tamales were incredible, with a taste sensation that rivaled any Parisian Michelin starred restaurant. That's what's great about food. At any given moment, at any given time, without a moment's notice, a hamburger, a taco, a plate of pasta, a meatball hoagie, a sub sandwich, can satisfy like the "nectar of the gods." If you love food, it doesn't matter what the cost, how it was prepared, or how beautiful the presentation. "Man, that tasted good!" Cafe Silvestre "hit the spot" yesterday morning.

Mexican themed full service restaurant with a hip, tropical feel. Full service bar with award winning margaritas and Utah's largest tequila selection with over 60 labels to choose from. Open for lunch and dinner 7 days a week with a brunch menu available
Reasonable prices, good food. They have parking adjacent to the building. It's on the corner of Highland Drive and 33rd South. They have been there several years and the food and service are consistently good. You begin your meal with complimentary chips and salsa. They have several food options. My husband usually orders the #1 combination which is a taco and an enchilada that comes with rice and beans. The is way too much food for me, so I usually order ala carte - a taco and an enchilada. It's a lovely setting and quite a large restaurant. They have several booths of varying sizes and also an area with tables that can be combined for large groups. They also have a full bar and seating in the bar area. Our meal came to about $20. We went away full and satisfied. It's one of my "go to" places to eat. I highly recommend it.

My wife and I visited on a recent Thursday evening. We we're quickly seated. It took about 5 minutes for our server to check in with us and to take our order. The food was brought to our table and our server disappeared. He never checked on us, no offer to refill a drink, no desire to see if our needs were being met. He did refill my wife's water after we had completed our meal when he brought our check. Never once did he ask me about a refill. I has attempted to catch his eye during my meal. This is not what I have come to expect here. However he was not so busy that he could not have been more attentive. His tip did reflect his level of service.

My rating is not a bad thing, it's my own assessment. The food is fine, but it doesn't "wow" me as it apparently does for other. I notice that each "Mexican" restaurant I go to has their own spin or flair on their menu. Nothing wrong with that. I just happen to not connect with this one here. Again - they are not "bad",! For me, it's fine to go to, but in all honesty it wouldn't be my first choice. (Note: My preference is more "authentic" - non American-ized Mexican food. Also , having been in Arizona & Texas, my taste for Mexican is attuned to and influenced.) El Chihuahua has a fun atmosphere though! That's one of the draws I DO enjoy about it! You go in and generally where ever you sit, you're going to have a good time. I love that it's oolorful and fun that it almost makes you happy to just sit in there:) Most people seem to go here for the infamous "Death Star" - THE drink that comes in a bathtub sized glass. You can choose from a few different flavors BUT your limited to 2 per customer. Although Utah liquor laws prohibit a certain amount of alcohol in them, they still pack a punch at that size. So.....if this is your "thing" - try it. (But also drink responsibly!) For food, I usually munch on the chips and salsa and get a medium salad (I know - go ahead a criticize me). Sometimes I'll get a quesadilla - which is fine. Be careful of the taco salad - it's HUGE - you'll want to partner with someone on that. I have had the enchiladas before but am not a fan of the white sauce they have on them. I just can't seem to connect with that taste. It's not bad - it's just that I don't connect with it. I've had their red sauce and again, can't seem to connect with it. Despite my review, the staff and servers are always very fun and friendly making the atmosphere very chill to hang out in even if you don't dig the food! Parking lot is fair, but fills up quickly because of it's location in a plaza with other businesses, including a bar a door down from them:) Go early or at a non busy time to get good parking and to avoid the crowds because it does fill up fast!

Strawberry watermelon margarita was very good. Chicken enchiladas were good, but perhaps too hot for person eating them so I finished one (got 3). Rice that came with it was good, pinto beans avg. Mushroom tacos were very good, would order again! Be nice if chips/salsa was complimentary and perhaps some salsa offered to go with mushroom tacos.
