Things to do in Gonzales
We were in Gonzales for the Come and Take It festival, and in the morning on our way into town, we noticed a full parking lot at the Acapulco. So when it came time for dinner, it seemed a logical choice. We weren't disappointed! When we arrived, the huge restaurant was pretty emptyâ probably only four or five other tables were occupied, and the other patrons all seemed local. Local patrons are always a good sign! (They must be a mostly breakfast/lunch spot, or the dinner crowd was hiding from the tourists! It did start filling up by the time we were leaving.)Everything we ordered was delicious. My picky eaters even loved it. One of my cheeseburger-eaters tried their chimichanga and fell in love! My hub's carne guisada looked tasty, and he confirmed that it was as good as it looked. As for me, whenever I see mocajete on the menu, I'm sold. Theirs was so good, and with homemade tortillas (both corn and flour) I ate myself into a near food coma. Huge portions, super fast and friendly service, and the TVs on the walls were set to appropriate dinner time programming. My hub was facing the screen set to the football game, and I was facing the Sabado Gigante Leyenda special (which was so fun!). The kids had been screen less all day, so we allowed them to bury their faces in their video games (it had been a looonnnnng day!).The food was great and reasonably priced, and our served was a doll. Such a great experience. We will definitely be back the next time we are in town.

For the people that go to this restaurant and give it a good review. Sorry but you have no taste at all. Facts: this place does not have fresh food! The lettuce and tomatoes all come in bags already cut! They use the same beans from the day before until they run out. The barbacoa comes from a bag. The only thing that they make fresh are tortillas and eggs! I kept hearing that the drinks are good. Umm well if you do think the drinks are good I suggest you go out of the city limits. The only reason I give it I guess a star is because I can't go any lower. I have boycotted this place for years since I found this out cause of people that have worked there. Also have heard stories of the waitress that work there have been offered money for exchange for other things. Truck drivers have told plenty of stories. I'm done this place is trash!
Family oriented home-style cooking at its best. We have a very diverse menu everything from burgers and fries to rib-eye steaks and seafood, we also have the best homemade Salsa and chicken fried steaks in town. We very unique items fried brisket sandwich

Wife and I had eaten here before so Sunday we thought we would stop agsin, wrong move. 4 waitresses, 1 cashier, 12 people, 5 waiting to order. Wehad toask for menu cause waitresses were all talking/texting. Looked around and after 10 minutes 5 people still waiting. No coffee no service, we left. Never again
Mercy, the thin pork chops at this small not fancy restaurant were SOO good. They served them with rice and beans and it was all delicious. I have eaten here before but today decided not to try typical Mexican. I would order this again in a heartbeat. You order at the counter and then they bring you your food. They have also recently updated the restaurant and it is very nice. They always have a big crowd and on Friday evenings have $1 beer or something like that. It draws a big crowd. The salsa and chips are also very good. Kids menu. All indoors. Parking on the street. Try this place when you are in town. Cheap eats!

Tried this restaurant for dinner based on TA reviews and was disappointed. You order at the counter and they bring your food to you. The hot sauce was not spicy at all, more like tomato sauce. The chips are thick and greasy. The waitress was not friendly to us but was talking and laughing with co-workers. We had the Mexican plate with chicken enchiladas. The guacamole did not taste homemade. The chicken enchiladas were not very good. We wonât be back.
