Had to make a stop for food between appointments. When I went to wash up I discovered why the restroom smelled so bad. Someone (I can't believe a plumber would risk this) removed a fixture, but instead of capping the waste line they stuffed a paper towel in the pipe. Clearly the health inspector in Dixon is not very thorough.
The owner was very nice. conversed with me about my day. But I'm not rating the owners personality, the rating of his restaurant unfortunately is. starting with the fact that I went on a Friday at 3pm and it was closed. I returned on Saturday at 5pm and it was empty. I wanted a Mexican food basic or staple ; chili verde. sadly for me I didn't get any because it was only made of Wednesday. I then ordered asada. it was not seasoned. it was tough, overcooked, and the most bland piece of cattle ever tasted. the beans were bland and the rice was mushy. perhaps on another day the food would have been better.
I stay in Dixon two nights a week and was driving around looking for an authentic Mexican restaurant when I found Mr Tacos. The name put me off I was thinking this would be a fast food style and have street tacos etc. I walked in and saw Latino grand parents eating and knew I was at the right place. I ordered Molcajete and when it came out I could not believe how big the meal was and it was delicious! Don't let the name fool you this is a great place to eat.

I tried this place several years ago with my daughter. We enjoyed the food, but never found our way back. The place burned down a couple years ago, and was recently rebuilt. My wife and I went there tonight to give it a try. The chips and salsa were authentically Mexican and tasty. I ordered the 5 taco "Monday Special" and she ordered an enchilada and chili rellanos platter. Both meals were great. The service was great and the price was very reasonable. I really recommend this place. Enjoy!

There were 3 of us that came to La Cocina for a late lunch. The food was great with good service. The restaurant must be doing well because they expanded the dining area so more customers can be served. Possibly they will consider beer on tap next.
