Although the service here was fine, the food was a disappointment. I chose this place for a friends get-together since it was central to everyone, but I wish I'd gone another direction. I noticed there was a lot of unfinished plates..as was mine. I got the enchilada dinner and was thoroughly underwhelmed. I've never had enchiladas served with no sauce, but these were. Heavy on the cheese, but actually dry and surprisingly fairly tasteless. The salsa is great, but the queso dip...not so much. For some reason there was a decided fishy undertone. Just not tasty at all. First margarita was delicious. Second was watery and bland. Carnitas tacos ere so hot (spicy) that my friend couldn't eat her second one, quesadillas came out looking dry. All in all a pretty bad experience, and I thought Superior Grill was WAY better than our experience proved it to be. I won't put up with 280 traffic to get to this place again. There are so many Mexican restaurants in Birmingham that serve much better food than this. Iguana Grill comes to mind.

Seems to be a popular place as it was filling up steadily shortly after we arrived at 11 but personally, I was not impressed. The second * is for the service which was fast and friendly but the food was either entirely too spicy or entirely tasteless. I found no in between. The queso had zero flavor. It just blended in with the chips, all tasting the same. The salsa was so good at first, and then the heat hit and I wished I hadnât already taken two bites! I have nieces and nephews who love chips and salsa but there is no way theyâd be able to handle the spice. The same is true for the pork burrito as well as the rice served alongside. My husband commented that it could have been good but was just overall too spicy. I know some who love a spicy dish but in everything on the plate? No thank you. The Taco Salad was pathetic. It came in the usual crispy âbowlâ only somewhat shallower than those Iâm accustomed to. It contained about 2 cups of lettuce, a fist full of diced tomatoes, same amount for cheese, the usual scoop of guacamole and one scoop (same size as the quac) of the seasoned ground sirloin. ONE very small SCOOP OF MEAT! So basically what I had was a lettuce salad minimally disguised as a taco salad. I have no intention of returning and have no idea how this restaurant has a 4* rating on Trip Advisor. There are numerous Mexican restaurants in the Birmingham area that are far superior to Chuyâs.

Tried this place with my millineal son a few days ago. Both items I had were suggested by the order taker/cashier who stated that these were âhouse favoritesâ. My starter of raw tuna over Doritos was inedible. The flavors clashed terribly and the visual presentation of the dish added to itâs disgusting nature. The âburritoâ that was rolled in sushi rice was just as bad. There is obviously no âchefâ preparing food here. If you are a foodie, donât waste your time or money here.

Rojo is a great place to bring a group of friends. They have plenty of seating and a great menu. They have a mexican food menu and an american food menu, which is great for big groups. They also have great local beers and great drinks. Thanks so much for the review! We love big groups. We also have a side room that you can reserve for parties :)

Located in Birmingham's Lakeview District, we serve authentic, gourmet tacos and Spanish style tapas with a Southern twist.
If you like just a taste of this and that - and who doesn't? This is the place for you. Tapas are perfect for a little taste. The regular menu here is also very good and plenty to order if you plan on sharing with others at the table. I ordered three pork tacos and they were delicious! I can imagine how busy this great restaurant is during the summer. Don;t let that dissuade you. It is worth a wait.Service is good and friendly.

The hubby and I went with another couple on a Wednesday night. It took a while to be seated, but spaces at the bar were available and we didn't have a problem waiting. Service was super friendly and reasonably fast for as full as they were. I got the al carbon street tacos. Fantastic! Hubby got a chicken burrito. It stole the show! Huge plate of food. Wine was only $4.50/glass because of a special. Cheese dip and chips were on point. My friends shared the salmon. Plenty of food for two. I will definitely go back. Yum!
