The same place as the Ox and Angela, but renovated and now operating under the name of The Ox, and still serving great tapas with super service. My son and I were there for brunch one sunny August morning. Lots of choices, many tapas items, some breakfast plates (bennies, eggs, salads, all with a Spanish twist) and a set price 3 course brunch special. We opted for the tapas since that would give us the widest flavour spread and taste. We tend to d that with a new place to see what the kitchen can do. I started with a coffee, nice and my cup was ever full. So, we ordered 6 tapas items and all were wonderful.- stuffed dates - 3 dates stuffed with cheese, at $9,, a little pricey, but oh, so delicious.- serrano ham - very tasty smoked and cured ham $14, be warned though, it does not come with bread or crackers.- ensalada - my son's green choice, a large green salad with apple slices and shredded cheese, $11.- toritlla - a large slice of a cheese omelette with paprika and aioli topping, $7.- patates brava - $10 for a large plate of small potatoes fried and on a salsa sauce topped with garlic aioli, yummy!- spinach potato croquet- $8 for 2 deep fried potato and spinach mixture.Everything was no less than super tasting. As I said, service was outstanding. The only downside is that the place is a little pricey, but then, you do get what you pay for.The bill total, excluding tip, was $66. You must give The Ox a try even if it means going out of your way.

Calypso's Taverna

Friendly family restaurant, with staff and owners who take effort providing good service, being attentive to your needs and chatty if you so desire. Food is very moreish, homestyle Greek food. Portions are very large, easily can provide some to take home. And it is very inexpensive. Not pricey at all. It is a traditional restaurant but I mostly get takeout. I live on my own and it provides healthy moreish food with large portions that provide me with several meals. It is very convenient. If you drive straight up from town with Centre street. And a Safeway and Italian grocer within a stone’s throw meets my needs. The iside is spotlessly clean but a touch too dark and a little retro for me. This is not a hip modern restaurant bar. I think mostly families. Kids welcome. There is free parking right in front of the restaurant. The area is up and coning, in transition.

JIMMY'S A&A DELI

I had the pleasure of introducing my new Iranian friends to Jimmy's A&A Mediterranean Deli. What is so great about Jimmy's is that it is a cultural mini-mart as well as a take-out restaurant with amazingly savory and sweet flavours. You can order so much and they are always busy! The portions are big so be prepared:) I have a lot of pictures to add so stay tuned. If you are in the mood for hearty, mouthwatering shawarmas, donairs, baklava, falafel, salad, fatarye, emenada or specialty drinks then you have come home! The staff is so friendly and eager to answer all of your questions. For first timers to this flavour mecca then take your time because the combinations are endless. Also, if you would like an amazing sheesha pipe, there is a huge selection behind the counter. Enjoy!

My partner and I enjoyed a delicious dinner tonight. We enjoyed the pita bread, tzaziki, saganaki, kalamari, dolmades, spanakopita, lamb, chicken, moussaka, rost potatos, salad, rice and baklava. It was all delicious and cooked to perfection - just like Yiayia's cooking! The staff were very warm and welcoming, it has truely been a highlight of our stop over in Calgary!
