A rich 300-year history, a thriving arts community and seemingly endless wilderness make this New York capital city on the Hudson River a great weekend getaway. Outdoor enthusiasts come here to ski, hike, canoe and fish; trout and small-mouth bass fishing is among the best in the U.S. Mountains surround the city, and the tapestry of golds and reds on an autumn day is breathtaking. The city is dominated by an elaborate 10-building complex that includes the State Capitol; the New York State Museum, with life-like dioramas such as American Indian life and an Adirondack logging operation; and the oval-shaped Empire State Performing Arts Center, nicknamed "The Egg." History buffs will enjoy the colonial homes, historic churches and museums, and can tour 18th-century mansions, like the Schuyler, a superb example of pre-Revolutionary War architecture. Whether nature or history is your passion, you'll find an abundance of both in this upstate New York gem.

While visiting my mother-in-law in a nearby nursing home, we found ourselves needing lunch and we found this restaurant down the road. While it is in a little strip mall, the restaurant is quite spacious and has linen tablecloths and napkins. Three of us ordered the Mediterranean Plate, my husband ordered the Chicken Pesto sandwich. All of us were very happy, and very full! The Mediterranean Plate came with a large basket of toasted pita. We will definitely return!

We had a terrific meal, in a very relaxing environment tonight. They have a new menu that is pleasing. Some of my favorites are gone, but they are considering bringing some things back.

I was craving for Turkish eggplant dish.. and Kismet hit the spot amazingly..Started with shakshuka (eggplant, peppers, veggies in tomato sauce).. which was really good.. comes also with pita bread..I got the musakka (roasted eggplant with ground meat in clay pot topped with just a touch of melted cheese) which was so yummy..Our cuz got red lentil soup and trio appetizer sampler (babagannush, hummus and shaksuka) and she liked all of them..I canât go back to try other dishes.. Wish they also offer authentic Sunday Turkish breakfast...

I came here for their bottomless Mojito on a weekend morning. They have excellent brunch selection. Tried their egg Benedict or omelette selection, you won't regret. The restaurant is clean and neat, ambiance is just right for brunch-ers. Highly recommended.

Family in town to celebrate daughterâs graduation from Clarkson Masters degree program. Barcelona was very good. Unassuming decor feels âMediterraneanâ and foods range from Spanish to Italian. I loved my Zuppa di Pesce. Just the right amount of different seafoods in an extremely spicy red broth (I asked for medium spice. Go mild if you donât want a lot of spice). There is a nice bar where we ordered Palomas while our table was getting ready. My daughter had one of the best seafood Alfredo pastas sheâs ever had. Super rich and creamy. Delicious. The bread was hot and top quality served with butter and an extra olivy olive oil. Service was outstanding, including a congratulatory coconut flan on the house which was to die for. Iâd definitely recommend and go back.

Athos was voted one of the 50 Best Greek Restaurants in America by The National Herald. Casually elegant, Athos serves only the very freshest seasonal ingredients, lovingly brought together using time-honored recipes and techniques, like clay pot cooking,
Elegant upscale Greek establishment with excellent service and cuisine. Delicious Athos salad with Bibb lettuce, strawberries, onions, feta and pistachios; Saganaki, grilled octopus, and smashingly fresh dolmathes (no trace of that sickly pickled taste that sabotages most versions). For the entrees, fabulous yiouvetsi with lamb shank and grilled lamb chops. Excellent overall.
