Such an adventure.. It is hard to describe our experience during those two days spent with Sergey in his agricultural complex. I’ll try to choose my words carefully and hope to express myself properly. It has been... complex... to remotely organize this trip for my family - 8 of us - to match our expectations and our budget. But I knew those 2 days booked outside the city would be one of the strongest souvenir of our 2 weeks trip. The season wasn’t ideal (end November) and we knew we had to arrange with that. Different activities were proposed by the host and we got a pre-defined planning... at a cost. We finally met Sergey in a morning at Mojaïsk train station before to ride to his... lands. Such a great surprise to see those wooden house in nature near the river, perfectly what we aimed for. After a deeliiiicious breakfast, he took him literally 2 hours on the sofa to tell us his story-life, from a young farm boy to a successful businessman. I admit we didn’t really understand at first the purpose of this, and were more into walking around while it was sunny, but then, we understood that he actually just gave us the long definition of who is Sergey and what we will experience with him and his team. It was planed to visit Borodino battle field, we end up in a 1h taxi drive through the Russia campaign. It was planed to visit a shoe museum, we end up in a home garage with two proper Russian making hand made boots with a very old USSR machine and unique "savoir-faire". It was planed to visit a milk factory, we end up in the director office to savor his product before to review his all factory chain. It was planed to visit his neighbor farm, we end up been welcomed by a nice 30years old Armenian businessman and his team, as well as a camel - yes - and 5 chained cows in a old wood barn next to a 5 starts hotel construction and a 200 cows future cowshed. It was planed to visit the village church, we end up in a private visit of an after war house of god, looked after by an unlucky exotic homeless and restored thanks to his personal fundings. I’m sure it wasn’t what we expected. I’m sure it wasn’t what we attempted to do initially and we sometime felt like not been the right person at the right place. But I’m sure we all have been deeply touched by what we saw, the landscape, the wooden house and the Russian bania, all the history, what we experienced, and the people we met. Sergey is who he is - polite, passionate, atypical, surprising, attentive, but before all, an active ambitious businessman. Hope the message is understood. Cheers.
