What a terrific surprise recommended to us by one of the market place dinner vendors. I would not have put that I should go visit a library while on holiday- this is an exception! We could have spent hours here, hats off to the people of Christchurch for the vision to put together such a great space. We had to explore top to bottom and found such wonderful spaces everywhere. The learning environment this creates for young people will have a generational impact. Another great bonus is the views of the Cathedral Square- here is where you want to take your photos vs through all the construction gates. How do we get one of these where we live? Staff were great at answering our very touristy questions and sharing there amazing work space with us. I'd actually put this on my "Must see" list for Christchurch.

Renwick Museum showcases the history of the township of Renwick (Formally Renwicktown) from the early settlers to the start of the wine industry. We are open every day (unattended) from (9:00am to 5:00pm) except Mondays when we are open 10:00am to 3:00pm with volunteers to help with genealogy, and local history research. Within the museum is the Watson Memorial Library, a unique collection of historical early learning resources begun by Herbert Watson in memory of his wife Olga. The building also houses the local lending library. Both libraries are accessible on Mondays only or by prior arrangement.
Whether you’re meeting a friend, or just need somewhere to charge your phone, then the Library is the place to be! We offer free WiFi along with bookable computer terminals and Chromebooks. Our facilities include rest rooms, a baby changing room, and spaces for breastfeeding. We offer a wide range of books, movies and music that can be borrowed even if you’re just visiting Invercargill!
