Find out what Latin restaurants to try in Ventura. Ventura, officially the City of San Buenaventura, is the county seat of Ventura County, California, United States. European explorers encountered a Chumash village, referred to as Shisholop, in Ventura while traveling along the Pacific coast. The eponymous Mission San Buenaventura was founded nearby in 1782 where it benefitted from the water of the Ventura River. The town grew around the mission compound and incorporated in 1866. The development of nearby oil fields in the 1920s and the age of automobile travel created a major real estate boom during which many designated landmark buildings were constructed. The mission and these buildings are at the center of a downtown that has become a cultural, retail, and residential district and visitor destination.

The menu is , as the name implies, generally tacos and related menu choices. The prices are reasonable, Portions small but in relationship with the price. We had tacos. The tacos did not taste fresh. It was if the inserts were kept on a refrigerator and warmed up in a microwave. I could be wrong. We will not return.
Cuban food well-prepared, a wonderful marina setting, attentive service staff ... this place has it all. After a most perfect platanos appetizer, I had veggie creole (with black beans) which was super delicious. My lunch partner had one of the creative grilled cheese sandwiches which she deemed likewise superb. And Andres, the owner/chef, was a wonderful host, rightfully proud of his restaurant gem.

Ventura was our stopover en route to San Luis Obispo. We walked two blocks through to town and stopped at Limon y Sal because it looked the most appealing. We had a nice booth by the window where we could look out and see people walking by. We really liked the decor-very pretty inside. We ordered the âtaco tourâ and two margaritas. Both were delicious. We shared one order but it was large enough for four people. We somehow missed the description on menu that said âfeeds fourâ (at least the website describes it this way). Maybe the waiter thought we were big eaters? The meal was simple & deliciousâfour kinds of meat (carnitas, chicken, asada and al pastor. A vegan option is also available.) It is served with rice and beans w/a container full of the âstreet tacoâ sized tortillas. Itâs too bad we were traveling otherwise it would have been a treat to have the leftovers the next day! Weâll definitely be back!

Ok, where to begin? I tossed and turned whether to rate this place 3 or 4 stars. As far as the food is concerned, it is good. It's not the best but certainly above average (hence 4 stars). It's not like I don't like the place but would I come here with family and friends for a night of Mexican food...most likely not. This is more like a lunch place with good food and great customer service. The prices are slightly high for my taste but not a wallet breaker. Seating is very limited if it's during a rush hour and parking is extremely limited. This is obviously better than Mexican fast food or places like Yolanda's so please don't come with super high expectations but do expect a good meal.

Very cheap and tasty authentic Mexican food from hole in the wall stand...always busy but worth the wait. Few benches outside to sit but most people take away for the beach or hotels/homes. Lots on the menu to choose from!

This place is perfection. Flavor central. Less beans and cheese, more peppers onions and outstanding salsas that complement the meats of your choice perfectly. Reasonable portions, great service. Could eat here every day!
