Top 6 Latin food in Port Saint Lucie, Florida, United States

February 28, 2020 Janette Largent

Find out what Latin restaurants to try in Port Saint Lucie. For a town that was no more than a fishing camp and a few farms fifty years ago, Port Saint Lucie has grown to be a lovely vacation spot. Port Saint Lucie is the location of the spring training camp for the New York Mets. Visit Tradition Field and see how the team is shaping up for the coming season. Then, if you love to golf, head over to the PGA Village, a 51-hole complex with a learning center and historical center. To the east of Port Saint Lucie is the Atlantic Ocean, so you'll want to schedule at least one day for the beach. Port Saint Lucie is also located just north of the Saint Lucie River, so you can explore the beauty of the river region on the St. Lucie River Princess. You'll cruise in comfort and be taken by the breathtaking scenery of natural Florida. The cruise is shaded from the sun and narrated for your education and entertainment. Cruises start in the afternoon, so you can spend a leisurely morning first. You can also explore nature on foot by hiking in the Savannas Preserve State Park. The park also offers canoe trips and guided explorations. No trip to Port Saint Lucie would be complete without a visit to Lily's Cafe. It serves great food at great prices. If you're lucky, Lily herself might be your waitress. If you're feeling more exotic, El Cubanito serves Cuban cuisine in a family atmosphere. Other restaurants include seafood, Indian cuisine, and American cuisine.

My husband and I ate lunch here on opening day. Everything we had was very flavorful. We had the papa rellena and beef pastelitos as appetizers and my husband had the Cuban sandwich which came with fries. He said it was the best Cuban sandwich he's ever had. I had the lomo saltado which came with your choice of beans, rice, and fried plantains. The beef was very tender and the seasoning was very good. Portions were large, food tasty, and pricing was very reasonable. The owner and chef, Rafael, came to our table to ask how everything tasted. Dom Rico is located in a small strip mall with ample parking. They are open for lunch and dinner, and take-out is available. They are closed on Mondays. We'll be back many more times!

This has quickly become one of our favorite family style restaurants with great Mexican food that the whole family enjoys. Portions are big here and many dishes can be shared by two persons. Taco Tuesdays are also a good deal - where else can you get a dinner of three tacos for under $3 in a sit down restaurant. Great friendly service here as well.

Don't expect any gringo tacos at this place! This is the real deal authentic Mexican food served by the owners of the small establishment. We dropped in on a Saturday at 1 o'clock in every table was full even though they only have about eight tables. Half of them were occupied by Latinos so that's a telltale sign right there. The tacos Al Pastore and Barbacoa were excellent and so were the handmade tamales. The housemaid red and green sauces are incredible ! The lunch specials are a real deal...you can get two tacos of your choice and a tamale along with refried beans and rice for about nine dollars. You can't go wrong so get there now!

El Cubanito Restaurant

Overall, we found the restaurant a bit disappointing. However, being Miami folks our expectations could be a bit too high. The Mojitos were nicely flavored with mint, but one might suspect they were "liquor light." The roast pork was a bit dry, and pork chunks very dry. But the mixed seafood dish was pleasant, though small for the price. I do not believe this restaurant would make it in Miami -- but, again, we are not in Miami.

Machu Picchu Restaurant

....you really need to eat here. The menu is diverse with beef, pork, chicken and seafood dishes prepared with Peruvian recipes. We both had seafood dishes that were flash fried to perfection. Not greasy, not tough, just perfect and they were topped with a salad with pickled onions and other veggies that strangely enough, was a perfect accompaniment to it. In addition, they will bring out a dish of toasted Peruvian corn that is quite simply the best salty snack I've ever had. I told the chef who came out to check on our experience that he should consider selling that by the pound. All in all, this is a restaurant you need to make a point to try. It's located in a small strip shopping center, and seating is limited, but we got there around 5:00 PM and were seated immediately. The service couldn't have been any better as the lady explained every question we had. The food is prepared as you order it, but we didn't wait long. Prices are more than reasonable for the quantity and the quality. They do serve alcohol, and I recommend having a cold beer with your Peruvian corn. This was an excellent experience, and I can't imagine a better restaurant in Port St Lucie
