Top 6 Jogging Paths & Tracks in Virginia, United States

October 9, 2021 Kaleigh Reichenbach

Virginia can make American history come alive. Visit Thomas Jefferson’s Monticello, tour Civil War battlefields, explore the living history museum at Williamsburg… the possibilities are endless (if the kids object, break up the historical sightseeing with a visit to Busch Gardens). Arlington, site of Arlington National Cemetery, is just across the Potomac River from all the major sites in D.C. In addition to beaches and historical attractions, Virginia has plenty to offer outdoor enthusiasts. Active families will love the Blue Ridge Highlands, where hiking, canoeing and tubing are just a few of the activities offered. Couples might enjoy a romantic mountain cabin in Virginia after a day of hiking in Shenandoah National Park.

We had a great ride on the Virginia Capital Trail! Traffic along the way are good to give bikes the right-of-way. There are two restaurants close to half-way that are accommodating to cyclists.

Deep Run Park

Reviewed By LadureeFan - Richmond, United States

Shady park with lots of paths, both paved and natural, for walking. With so much tree cover, even walkable in light rain without an umbrella. Very peaceful. Lots of parking in various lots peppered throughout the park. Would be nice if the county put up signs, even just a few, letting you know where you are. Once you've been a few times, it's easy to figure out but for a first timer, I'd recommend looking at the layout of the park on google maps first.

I've walked this a few times. Start at the train depot in town, go thru the park. There are a few benches to rest in. Crosses the road one time but us marked well. Go thru Heritage Park, it's very nice. Follows a creek most of the way. Cross a low water bridge, RR tracks are nearby. It's a pretty walk, mostly flat. If you're staying in Pulaski and need a little exercise this is it.
