Reviews on Italian food in Mongolia, Mongolia. Mongolia /mɒŋˈɡoʊliə/ ( listen) (Monggol Ulus in Mongolian; Монгол Улс in Mongolian Cyrillic) is a landlocked unitary sovereign state in East Asia. Its area is roughly equivalent with the historical territory of Outer Mongolia, and that term is sometimes used to refer to the current state. It is sandwiched between China to the south and Russia to the north. Mongolia does not share a border with Kazakhstan, although only 37 kilometres (23 mi) separates them.

Surprise to find this nice luxury hotel here. It is very clean. The room and bed I stayed in was quite small but quality is good.

But after I complained the food improved. The waitress was very nice and prompt with the beer. The servings are very big and well worth the money (it is not expensive). Right across the road from Danista Nomad Guest House/ Hostel. Both places recommended

Nice restaurant. We had dinner at that restaurant. They make reservation too. We wanted to have table outside, but Mongolian August evening is not that warm. So decided have table inside. They were flexible to us, offered tables inside and outside. Service is nice and friendly. Food was delicious.

Wood fired Italian style pizza. We served pizza 'al metro'(by the meter) same as Neapolitans.
OMG. So fresh, all the ingredients could have just been harvested. The pizza was freshly baked in a stone oven. The dough was fresh, the toppings were fresh and real mozarella cheese - so stringy. (Unlike a nearby famous fast food chain restaurant, where the cheese had more oil than the Deepwater Horizon spill). No comparison. After eating in THAT other place a few days earlier and discovering Dodo PIzza, this was magical. The eat-in experience is superior, the pizza healthier and only about 40 US cents more for the same size vegetable pizza, with drinks marginally cheaper in Dodo. And,if you can't speak much Mongolia, the staff spoke English too.

Not knowing what to expect as this restaurant was our first meal after landing in Ulaanbaatar. We were happily surprised as the food was fresh and prepared on the spot...which of course contributed to the waiting...Our waiter was not fluent in English and we had some misunderstanding about the dishes we ordered. Some other clients told us it is quite acceptable to order in advance, so the waiting become acceptable...

It was nice to come across a restaurant in UB which actually serves up the proper cuts of meat as described. The service was efficient and the beer cold, which was welcomed after a hot day walking around town. My beef fillet/tenderloin was a little over cooked, but tasty nonetheless. The other dishes we had, pasta and chicken were also good.Slightly more expensive than some of the other places in UB, but worth it.
