Formally the towns post office, now converted to a bar-restaurant serving fantastic fresh food specialising in wings, pizza and handmade burgers. Tho we are not a sports bar we do show sports on our 5 massive 100" screens. A great place to spend time with
After a disappointing visit to Southport with my girlfriend I stopped off at Ormskirk on the way back to excite us again. Now this was a Monday so we weren't expecting much....most bars were shut and then we saw this one....I remember reading something in the paper about it, so I got excited. From the instance of seeing it from the clock tower I said "It must be a Wetherspoon's" but sadly it wasn't. My girlfriend ordered an espresso martini to which she just got blank looks from the lady serving and frantically looking round....then a guy who looked managerial maybe said "might be a few minutes as we need to give you fresh coffee" What? As opposed to what? Stale coffee dregged up? So the five star has already turned into a three. I then ask what non alcoholic beers they have...."We have Becks Blue"....."No, it's sadly horrible" I replied...."We have orange" was the response....but deadpan and genuine. If it had been said with an element of humour then I would have laughed, but sadly it was said in earnest. It's hard work in the UK to not drink and have a night out. So anyway...I ended up with a Coke I didn't want because I didn't have an option and my girlfriend's drink was delivered to the table in a bit of a mess. She said "I see your eyes judging...let me taste first"She tasted and said "Okay...your look was justified...that's not very good"....I would have said something to the serving staff but sadly it would have been futile. We just supped and left. It was a quiet Monday too and not even a busy day. So sad Sorry to hear about your negative experience in The Old Post Office , I have been looking into your complaint to try and get to the bottom of it , if you could please provide the day and time that you attended I will address and re-train the staff involved. Sorry for the late reply hope to hear from you very soon. Kind RegardsGary Steele (GM)

We called on spec at lunchtime & were greeted warmly by a lovely young lady. Well what can I say but just fabulous food, lovely staff too. We were offered an Italian type of tapas. All the dishes, 3 each, were delicious. Dishes Iâd never heard of before but we gave them a try & were not disappointed. We just canât wait to go back again.

Il Padrino is the new Italian in the heart of Ormskirk bringing great food to you at affordable prices. Authentic Italian dishes served to you in style!
Our meals were adequate, but the service was so slow. There were only about 4 covers in, so no excuse. When the waiter finally came to take our order we had to point out that we hadnât even been given the menu yet. Took nearly 15 minutes to take payment after giving us the bill. The waiter belied his youth by adopting a strangely old fashioned and, some might say, sexist way, of speaking only to the male and totally ignoring the female of our couple. And how delightful it was to leave the restaurant with not even a goodbye or a thank you for our custom. We shall not be returning.Hello Anne F,Thank you for sharing your feedback. We are sad to hear that your experience at the restaurant was disappointing. We are always working hard to make sure every customer has a positive experience. We will take your feedback into account as we work toward improving the way we do business. We would appreciate the opportunity to make this right, but can only do so if you give us a second chance.Kind regards,Il Padrino Team

Have been to this restaurant a few times before tonight. Food and atmosphere and staff always positive. However, tonightâs experience was entirely different. The staff looked and acted like they had a long and hard day. The starters were cold and the main did not live up to its description. Ver disappointed. Wonât return.

We came here with 2 friends as they had been a few times before and highly recommended the restaurant, it's a lovely restaurant with great decor and atmosphere, the staff were very helpful and attentive the young lady we had was super, unfortunately we didnt get her name otherwise I would have given her a mention. The food was very tasty and plentiful we each had a starter and a main, all reasonably priced as were the drinks, all in all we will certainly visit again and again, personally I think you would have to venture into manchester to find an italian restaurant to match its quality and ambience, thanks again guys.
