Santino's Steak and Pasta House

Reviewed By FWL5346

Arrived shortly after 6pm, was told 25 minutes, which was pretty close. After being seated was asked about drinks. Water and tea. Ordered stuffed mushrooms, was a mistake. There were mushrooms with something on top that tasted like rice cooked in boiled shrimp water, didn’t taste any baby shrimp or crab meat and some kind of sauce. When Lana, our waitress, brought our mushrooms, no small plates for our appetizers, she also brought us bread sticks. The bread sticks came covered by a napkin, a dirty napkin with some kind of red sauce on it.The wife ordered potato soup instead of salad and chicken Marsala. The potato soup had some lumps of flour that hadn’t been stirred in properly. The chicken Marsala came with a steak knife and for good reason. The chicken was tough to cut and even tougher to chew. It had no flavor, bland. She couldn’t eat it because it was tough and bland, the gentleman sitting at the next table came over and said “mine was bland also” as he was leaving. The waitress argued with my wife about how bad the potato soup was and how the chicken Marsala was so good.I ordered the ribs with stuffed shrimp and a salad. I looked at my salad and the salad of the couple sitting at the next table. One was a nice bowl of salad and mine was a smaller plate of salad with dressing in a plastic cup with a lid. My shrimp weren’t exactly stuffed they were cut in half and the other half maybe in the coating. One of them just had a tail stuck in the batter. My ribs had some sauce, and barely brushed on. When I went to cut my ribs they fell off the bone. They were so dry when I stuck my fork in them they broke apart. Baked potato was soggy, no idea why.Left most of my meal on the table. Asked the waitress if we could speak to the manager, she told us he was too busy in the kitchen.Very, very disappointing dinner, came home and fixed a sandwich. Never have we had such a bad experience.

Tony's Restaurant & Third Street Cafe

Great service and atmosphere aren't the only reasons people have been making the trip to Tony's for over 60 years. Tony's is the home of the World Famous Pepperloin Steak. This beef tenderloin is marinated in Tony's secret marinade, rolled in half cracked

No wonder Tony's is the oldest restaurant in town. If you like Italian, the is the place to go. I recommend the Scampi.

My wife & I dined @ DeCaro's on a Sunday early afternoon, joining another couple who know the owner (he visited with us briefly before returning to the kitchen). This location used to house Princivalli's Cafe, and I am happy to report that DeCaro's is a marked improvement in tenants. The interior layout remains pretty much the same, but it's brighter & more welcoming and comes with very friendly table service. They have ample parking space on a lot on the east side of the building, directly accessible from East 3rd Street just west of its intersection with Broadway. They have both side & front entrances, so pick your path & get ready to enjoy. Our server Nina V. was polite & attentive. We each ordered salads to start, which are simple but tasty with their house Creamy Italian. Our friends ordered their usual medium supreme pizza, with a not-too-thin crust & served "North St. Louis County style" on a rectangular tray with square slices, accompanied by an order of cheese garlic bread. My wife & I each chose the spaghetti with meatballs dish, with large & very tasty meatballs and a generous ladle of sweet marinara sauce. We all had plenty of leftovers to take home, yet still had room to split two orders of their delicious housemade gooey butter cake (a St. Louis area favorite dessert). If you're looking for a casual pizza & pasta dining spot in a bright uncluttered atmosphere, De Caro's would be a very good choice. Just be sure to save room for dessert.

First our server Hannah was attentive and really nice. Love the outdoor seating, so did our pup. Burger is straight forward basic but DELICIOUS. Love the Almond, Cranberry salad and the flat bread with pesto, mozzarella, fresh tomatoes was also amazing.

My wife and I dined here based on the reviews, and I can say the meal was less than memorable. It was crowded and noisy and the food was average and bland. It reminded me of cafeteria food. Nothing to go out of your way for. I probably would not go back a second time. We're very surprised and sad to read this, Stephen! We always want to make sure that our guests leave after having enjoyed a great visit with us, and we are sorry to see that this was not the case. We do hope that you will consider joining us again in the future so that we have another opportunity to show you our full potential.
