I was staying in Bremen on a business trip and stumbled upon this restaurant around lunch time. I ordered a vegetarian sandwich ( in English) and it arrived hot and fresh in just a few minutes. Excellent flavors on ultra fresh and warm bread. Pleasant and efficient staff.

We found this restaurant quite by chance en route to the ferry in Kiel. It was less than 10 minutes from the motorway and perfect for our needs, somewhere quiet, in beautiful surroundings and outside. The outdoor seating area here is surrounded by a raised garden full of roses and herbs. There are umbrellas to shield you from the sun and blankets to keep you warm.We did not know what we had ordered apart from we knew we had ordered a fish dish, as the menu was all in German, and we took a recommendation from the waitress. Food was well presented and delicious, I think a typical German fish dish. Dessert was rhubarb and ice cream, again simple but delicious. Will definitely return, next time we are passing by.

Provided you don't search for top rated Michelin or Gault & Millau restaurants, you can dine quite well in Bremen although it takes some searching.. We liked TOPAZ for its friendly service and good cooking. Minus point for the ceviche with green asparagus (not freshly prepared and still frozen!) but the crusted lamb was outstanding.

The Loui & Jules is at the Design Hotel Ueberfluss and you can order a room service. On the Easter Weekend it was so packed downstairs that we ordered straight from the kitchen. The choice is somewhat limited compared to the normal menu. Our food could have been a little bit warmer and less soaked with oil, but overall it was okay and the staff was very friendly.

El Mundo is a big place which is very popular; best to reserve well in advance. Many groups, lively atmosphere, open kitchen. Menu is varied - everything from pizza and pasta and salads to steaks and fish and homemade ice cream - and the prices are reasonable. Small selection of wines, but several options by the glass. Service is rather friendly and mostly efficient. This is not the kind of romantic place you'd like to spend with your loved one, it's more targeted to groups of friends who are looking for a great time out. In summer, there is a nice terrace right at the water as well. Opens at 1600 already, for those who wish to dine early. Recommended.
