The Best Home Style Authentic Indian Restaurant in South Jersey. We have been serving south jersey for over 25 years.
At $13 or so for dinner the buffet is a real find. Beyond that the menu is full of so many choices: vegetarian, several chicken styles, shrimp, goat, etc. Ample parking in the adjacent lot. Good service. Menu dishes can be ordered in various levels of spicy, from American bland (but why bother) to classic fiery (get out the water bucket) Indian hot. The only downside- the interior decor feels old and tired. Could use some sprucing up. But you don't eat the decor.
If you are craving for some delicious, lip smacking Indian/Pakistani fare, look no further. I tried the Chicken Biryani, Lamb Chapli kebab and Chicken Butter Masala. All of them were perfectly made - and made fresh. It took about 20-25 minutes but it was definitely worth the wait. And it's pretty easy on the pockets too! The store has a very unassuming exterior and there is very little seating space inside. However, the taste of the food is as authentic as it gets. The portions are sufficient for a single person. I am sure I'll be back for more and highly recommend this place over the more decorated and expensive alternatives in the area.

Well presented Himalayan Indian food. Pick your own heat level of the spice. Large selection of choices, including goat, shrimp, and vegetarian dishes. Very reasonable pricing. Nice personality and care from the help.

Welcome to first south indian cuisine in camden country New Jersey. The meaning of Amma is Mother. Our concept is to serve you tasty food like our mother use to feed us. India has a rich cultural diversity reflected in its culinary profile with flavors an
After reading Craig LaBan's glowing review of Amma's in the Philadelphia Inquirer, my husband and I decided we should give Amma's a second chance. There won't be a third time for us.Absolutely the best dish we had was our appetizer of Chili Paneer, It had a kick but was not incendiary. The accompanying vegetables were delicious. We made short work of that appetizer, but after that, things went downhill for us.Neither of us particularly cared for the Rasam soup, at once sour and very spicy. Ours did not come with the idle cakes the food critic had with his soup. Our two entrees were disappointing as well. My husband's go-to dish is Chicken Vindaloo. He didn't particularly care for the sauce and felt the quality of the chicken meat was not there either.I decided on the Kerala shrimp moilee priced at $14.95. Although the sauce itself was quite flavorful, I was shocked that they had used salad shrimp! Not a quality entree for the price.Service was fine throughout, unlike our first visit when it had been distracted. However, the noise level rose and rose throughout our meal, to the point where it was difficult to have a conversation. Parties of 6 and 8 no doubt contributed to that problem.People definitely seemed to be enjoying themselves. We like to support local family restaurants. However, given what we spent for what we got, we do not consider Amma's a good value.

Food is good but not amazing. Service a bit slow although not terribly busy. A bit pricy but not out of the range of reason. I would go again.

Very nice staff, food was incredible! Wishing I had tried more because everything was so flavorful. The whole staff couldnât be more accommodating as I have never eaten Indian food. I was hesitant just because it wasnât familiar. But they made me feel very comfortable and canât rave more about the food!!! Highly recommend!
