After nearly a week of travel around Sri Lanka, we finally landed in Colombo for a nights stay. Our driver/guide took us to this restaurant fully aware that we were dying for Vegetarian Indian food. Great choice. Here one can get authentic vegetarian Indian food (both South and North Indian). Sambar tasted exactly as the way it should. Stongly recommend.

Special mention to Charukha and Lasantha! Truly grateful for the excellent and courteous service. Took special care of our demands and needs. The food as usual lived up to the expectations set by Taj however we were pleased by the service provided. Will definitely visit again.

They offer really good food for a very reasonable price . Iâve been eating from this place for more than 6 years now and it never let me down. Good place to bring some friends and throw a party ( specially when you are on a budget but you need a decent place to have a good lunch ).They have a chicken biriyani which you can taste the real Indian spices and that masala . I normally buy a batter fried cauliflower with cashew nut as the starter and itâs great ...!!!!! I would love to taste more and more of their food and not like other restaurants I donât feel any doubt when ordering a new one as I know for sure itâs going to be delicious...!!! To the management - Please Keep up your service and the taste of your food without any falls and wish you good luck ..!!!

Downstairs, so no view but tastefully decorated. Good service and great food. The small cup of spicy sauce/soup they give you for free before the meal is divine. Great food served quickly. We went here 3 times (lunch and 2 dinners) it was so good. Authentic food at a reasonable price.

Yesterday we dined out to celebrate Mother's Day. We have been regularly going to the neighboring Loon-Tao to enjoy fine Chinese cuisine and therefore, we have seen place. After considering previous reviews we decided to try here. Although there is no much of a variety here unlike in other Indian restaurants, I should say that we had a scrumptious meal (Chicken Biryani with mutton Rhogan Josh). Though the portions and price were reasonable and authentic Indian cuisine by the side of the beach. Nice atmosphere, but the only problem was that the DJ music was a bit loud.We will not hesitate to dine out again

Shanmugas used to be one of the top places to dine and eat in Colombo, especially when it came to South Indian cuisine. We ordered lunch takeout this time around and were quite let down by the quality and flavors. The curries were sub-par. They all tasted the same. The sambar was just watery and had no proper ingredients. It was just unpleasant to enjoy. They need a makeover and get back on track. Not sure about their quality on Dosa's and Idly's. But given my experience with the Rice and Curry, I am not inclined to try it out.
