We went for dinner at the restaurant while we stayed at La Oveja down the road. It was pretty much the only place open for dinner and we were happy for it as the food and service by the elderly couple was outstanding.. Really caring for our children as well. Must try the salmon in orange sauce, lamb chops and the onion soup. It's all made personally by the lady so it's all very home Y

Casa Ana is a historic village house in the mountainous Alpujarra region of Andalucia. Once a family home, with a wine press, olive store, barns and a goat shed, the property was lovingly restored between 2005 and 2013. It provides comfortable, quiet accommodation with 8 en suite bedrooms, dining room, sitting room, a Moorish courtyard garden and several south-facing terraces. The style is simple and traditional - chestnut roof beams and terracotta floors - but with modern comforts, including underfloor central heating in winter and rain showers. At Casa Ana we provide delicious breakfasts using local produce - fresh oranges from village growers, local honey, eggs, bread, hams and olive oil. Picnic lunches are also available. The house is located in the mountain village of Ferreirola (population around 28), near Pitres. The village has fantastic views of the Trevelez river gorge, and is a wonderful base to go walking, explore the Sierra Nevada National Park, visit the traditional white villages of the Alpujarra or take a day trip to Granada or the Mediterranean beaches.
I spent a week on a writing retreat lead by Tom Bromley. I had a simple, comfortable bedroom with writing desk and shower room and my own front door with a view of the mountains. It was perfect for shutting myself off and focussing on the book I'd gone to work on. There is plenty else to do if you want a break, with hiking trails leading directly from the house and optional yoga. There were also optional reading/feedback sessions and writing prompts. The food was fabulous and meals times a good opportunity to get to know other guests - which was easy because of the limited number. Tom was always happy to chat over meals as well as providing optional (and superbly insightful) mentoring sessions. I would highly recommend it to anyone no matter what stage they were at with their work or what kind of writing.

Hotel La Oveja Verde ("The Green Sheep") has 11 apartments and a Andalusian Tavern in the Alpujarra Alta of Granada, in Pitres, and the Town Hall of La Taha de Pitres, between Barranco del Poqueira (Pampaneira, Bubión and Capileira) and Trevélez, 1245 m above sea level. Situated in the heart of nature, and only 100 m from the village square, with 2,000 square metres of garden to enjoy the peace and tranquillity of the countryside, and, at the same time, not having to do without the services in Pitres (doctor's surgery, chemist's, supermarkets, bars, restaurants, ...).
We were there in November and had a magnificent appartement with great view and sun on the terrace from morning to evening. The appartement was well equiped although kitchen gear are basic. The owners are very friendly and everything is perfectly clean and the heating is perfect. You can do a lott of walks starting from the appartement. We walked in the surroundings and we walk to bubion, pampaneira en campineira (these 3 are very near to each other and are done in the same walk). The bathroom is OK but the shower is a little bit small. The curtain is too close to you and always touches you during showering. if you do not close the curtain enough all the bathroom is wet. Do not expect on open restaurant for the eveningin this time of the year during the week. Everything is only open during the day, even in the very touristique villages. In the evening you have to cook for yourself.

The small hotel "Sierra y Mar" is situated at the top of the village with a wonderful view over the flat roofs and the surrounding mountains. Entering the house through the blue door is like walking into a small village as the house is actually several houses joined together by gardens and terraces. The spaciousness and the quietness of the place is increased as most rooms have their own terrace with superb views. All the rooms have modern bathrooms and central heating. There is also a large living-room with a fireplace, a library and a kitchen for the use of the clients. WiFi.The small whitewashed village Ferreirola is beautifully and appropriately placed at 1,000 m on the southern slope of the National Park Sierra Nevada. The mild climate of the valley, the many mountain springs, and the rich vegetation make up the scenery of this former Moorish village.Fortunately for walkers an ancient network of mule tracks is preserved. Marked routes:The E4/ GR7, GR 142, Ruta Medieval.
Our hosts were very warm and welcoming. Each room was simple but very comfortable, reached through a pretty flower filled garden .we each had a private terrace with stunning views of the mountains There was a guest kitchen available for teas coffees etc Breakfast was copious and excellent quality.

Lovely spot, have been coming here with my family to eat and swim for over 30 years. Unfortunately the restaurant was taken over by new owners 2 years ago and last year we experienced on several occasions what we could only put down as a strong dislike of ‘foreigners’. Between not even acknowledging our presence in the restaurant nor our requests for the menu etc but then observing Spanish guests arriving long after ourselves to be served immediately. We returned again this summer and today received the exact same treatment. I have traveled Spain my entire adult life, speak Spanish and have never experienced this anywhere. A real shame but we will not return and would advise others to do the same.

This holiday accommodation is located in Pitres between the villages of Capileira and Trevelez. It is ideal to explore the Alpujarras and the National Park of Sierra Nevada. The house has a large living room with an open plan kitchen. It has two large bedrooms. One with a double bed and another with 2 trundle beds that can be converted into 4 single beds. It has a bathroom with shower and small bathtub, washbasin, bidet, wc and washing machine. It has a terrace with views of the surroundings and a small garden. In front of the house, but a little further down is the sports center of the school. If you come with children is ideal to sit on the terrace and watch your children play. The house is fully equipped.
