Traditional country Inn. Rooms, traditional pub food, locally sourced and made on the premises. Friendly atmosphere with musical events and local society meetings.
Very friendly welcome. Sally and Andy clearly want your stay to be as enjoyable as possible. They are very happy to sit and chat and cater to your every need. Food was very tasty and hot! Everywhere is clean and the room very comfortable. Ideal location for Hay on Wye which has so much to offer including the newly renovated castle. Views from the back of the pub are so relaxing offering lots of walking opportunities and places to explore. Would recommend this pub for the personal touches as a family run business. Unlike the chains.

The Black Mountain Lodge is a delightful family-run 4 Star Bed & Breakfast situated at the foothills of the Black Mountains within the Brecon Beacons National Park. This lovely old traditional stone building, the oldest part dating back to the 17th Century, is set in its own beautiful grounds with ample free parking and surrounded with breathtaking countryside. Set away from the 'hustle and bustle', the Black Mountain Lodge prides itself in offering a relaxing atmosphere, comfortable rooms and a delicious hearty breakfast. With plenty to do in the area, it is perfect for those wishing to visit the area to take part in outdoor activities or for those wanting to visit the famous town of books Hay on Wye; with its antiques & book shops and it's literary festival which is held each May. Or, visit the quaint market town of Brecon to join in with its Jazz festival in August or walk the Brecon Beacons.
Recently had a take away for the family which comprised of a couple of chicken and kofta kebabs. Came with fresh salad, pita breads and chips. The portions were huge, the food freshly prepared and tasted amazing! Fantastic value for money. Fully recommend this place, but make sure you call in your order in advance.

After a days horse trekking in mostly rain. 3 travellers (2 friends & myself) who, arrived very wet & bedraggled, received a very warm welcome from the lady owner. An excellent host, nothing was too much trouble. An excellent cook too. The rooms are large, 4 poster beds in most, clean & very comfortable mattresses for achey backs & bums!!! Full of old world charm set in beautiful grounds. Beautiful views of the Brecon Hills. A delightful stay. Will definitely be returning.

This beautifully restored and furnished Georgian manor house was a delight. Our large room was exquisite and very comfortable, quite a luxury. The owner was most helpful in providing information about the area and guided us to two local restaurants for dinners (River Cafe and Foyle's). The photo provided does not reveal the lovely gardens around house that welcomed us. Because the owner knew we were especially interested in gardens, she arranged for us to visit and led us to a local, private garden created by a friend. We so appreciated her thoughtfulness. This is a truly special place!

Excellent chapel conversion. Very clean rooms and comfy beds. Shared bathroom spotless. Hosts very welcoming and clearly enjoyed entertaining. No traffic noise. Close to River Wye for walks and Hay on Wye for books.
