Fun Retro Motel! Free WIFI accessible in all rooms. IMPECCABLY clean and comfortable rooms. Fridge, microwave, in room coffee, and phones in all rooms. Walking distance to downtown. Close to the International Wolf Center, North American Bear Center, and Dorothy Molter Museum along with other in town attractions. You can access the in town snowmobile trail from the motel. We have contactless check in and check out if preferred.

Reviewed By TomW690I made a reservation with them on their website. My confirmation was by email. When I arrived, they did not have my room reserved as requested and tried to blame Expedia, saying they only got my request that day. I had not used Expedia. They tried to give me an unsatisfactory room instead of the one I specifically and clearly reserved. We left, very tired, after a long long day of travel weariness to find other rooms elsewhere. Totally NOT dependable and not trustworthy.

Sub-par Experience for price paid
Reviewed By debbiewaldonMy husband and I stayed in Room 337 in September 2021. We found the whole experience not worth the $508.56 we paid for two nights lodging. Very sad, used to be a nice place to stay. Water stains on the ceiling in the bathroom and holes in the lining of the window curtain were overshadowed by the aloofness of the staff and their attitude towards extending non-existent hospitality. Due to Covid, it was made quite clear that our room would not be serviced. On Sunday morning we were rudely turned away at the restaurant on site because of a "glitch" in their "system" and yet we should see people in the restaurant. When we asked about alternative places to grab breakfast, the waitress just said "I don't know" and turned and walked away. The real kicker was there were people sitting in the restaurant while we were rudely turned away. I know the current resort manager from high school and college, but everyone knows everyone in Ely. I would have hoped that the sown turn in guests over the Covid pandemic would have been seen as an opportunity to spruce the place up.

This 'Old House' was remodeled by the owners themselves. Each room is paneled with locally harvested lumber, oiled and varnished to a beautiful luster allowing each room to achieve a rustic eloquence of its own. The spacious bathrooms have white cedar ceilings and large showers. Plush mattresses and deluxe pillows will provide guests with a luxurious night's sleep. There's a fully equipped kitchen, dining room, and a Gathering Room with a fireplace for all guests. All rooms can control heat and air-conditioned individually; and all rooms have Netflix, Directv Now and wireless internet. Guests receive a complimentary fresh baked pastry with an assortment of coffees, teas, and hot chocolates delivered to the kitchen each morning. We accept VISA, Mastercard, and Discover.

Reviewed By Shadowe10What an adorable place! I was in the Indigo Room for two nights. Takes up the entire third floor in an elongated floor plan. All knotty pine. Beautiful craftsmanship! Immaculate and cozy, and very private. Comfy bed, hot hot water, great water pressure. Walking distance to restaurants and shops. Outstanding!

Great place to stay before and after a trip into the BWCA
Reviewed By Mrcharlie447Great little Mom and Pop place. Polite staff, clean rooms. The beds were comfortable and our room was well maintained. No breakfast, no ice machine. The owners communicated with us and planned for our late arrival. They made the arrival and departure super easy. Overall a great clean place. I’d stay again for sure!!!

Reviewed By tom_in_natureWell, it’s great for a crew of hunting/ fishing buddies. Maybe not so much for the family. Yeah cabins haven’t been updated in quite a few decades. Things don’t quite work right. It gets us through the night. I would probably stay if no other options were available.

Neat, clean, quiet, comfortable
Reviewed By DarlenePPGrounds and building neat and well maintained. Only one flight of stairs to carry luggage. Room was spotlessly clean and spacious. Noticed an odd, unpleasant odor upon opening the door, next to sink and bathroom, not sure if chemical cleaner, carpet glue, other. A Glade plugin might have helped in that area. Did not notice as much in the rest of the room. Comfortable bed and pillows for us. Microwave, fridge, coffeemaker, table and chairs appreciated. A small continental breakfast available off lobby, and though we did not partake, nice to have. Though no vacancy, it was quiet. Staff available and attentive, pleasant. Good location, easily accessed. Average pricing. Can walk to Subway or Dairy Queen. Close to International Wolf Center. Would recommend staying there.
