Bartolomeu de Messines and between 20 to 30 minutes from Loule, Faro, Quarteira, Vilamoura and Albufeira. You can therefore enjoy all the surroundings of the Hostel: Hiking and mountain biking trails Birdwatching Walk around and know the villages and people of the Algarve hills There is all an natural scenery that visitors can enjoy while spending one or more days in our space. The Cerro da Janela Hostel is perfect for those who want to enjoy different times, breaking the daily routine of the city and be in contact with nature and mountain culture. In this simple but cozy place, you can sleep, relax by the pool or in the garden, enjoy the surroundings, have a barbecue, eat outside or within the leisure meal prepared for you. Your second home, perfect for spending a few different days in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. There is plenty to do around here biking or hiking has pedestrian and biking routes with nature right next to you, you can also watch the wildlife. The county of Alte is 5 minutes away and you can visit the monuments and learn about the local history. In the summer you can enjoy the natural pools in "Fonte Grande" and "Queda do Vigario". You will feel so comfortable and relaxed in permanent contact with nature that will want to return for another experience in the rural world. With plenty of room for everyone in this quiet and simple place and a perfect place to stay in rural family atmosphere with quality accommodation. Combined with close location to everything. Next to the Hostel there is coffee "AL Cafe" and a typical restaurant serving regional food "O Rosmaninho". S. Bartolomeu de Messines is 10 minutes away and there is a station with access to Intercity. The village of Alte and Benafim are 5 minutes away and has restaurants, cafes, leisure centers, supermarkets, pharmacies and CTT. The "Via Algarviana" passes near our Hostel. Loule is 20 minutes away and has a rich cultural history and monuments with a local very active trade, typical restaurants, bars and movie theater and many events throughout the Year. Reviewed By SnEllietjeWe were surprised to learn the hostel was not in Alte itself but in a little village 5 km away from Alte. But if you like to experience a ‘real’ village in the sense of not touristic, this is wonderful. It’s sleepy, has a small cafe / restaurant at the other side of the street where all the locals meet and greet. Good honest food too. Next to it is a tiny tiny grocery store, the owner still makes the traditional baskets and figures from dried leafs. Selling great honey too. We found the view from the hostel so beautiful! The little valley in front is stunning in spring: full of water, all kind of trees, flowers and people starting up there vegetable plots. At the other side we made a walk to the rim of the hill that divides between Alentejo and Algarve. Different and just as special. We were walking the Via Algarviana and the owners collected us in Alte and brought us to the next startingpoint at the end of our stay. They are very friendly and did everything to make our stay worthwhile. There are 2 rooms available that share the bathroom. We were the only guests.

Reviewed By bruceweathersonGreat guest house. The bedroom and bathroom were immaculately clean. Bed was comfy. The upstairs had a hot tub and seating area ideal for sitting back, relaxing and drinking some Portuguese wine. The plunge pool is great for those walking the Via Portugal. Breakfast was excellent. All taste catered for including some scrambled eggs and bacon. The guest house is centrally situated in the small town and there are numerous places to eat and drink. Highly recommended.

Perfect holiday for relaxing
Reviewed By Kati SWe are just back from this beautiful hidden gem and couldn't be happier. From the moment we stepped in to this small rural b&b we were made so welcomed by the owners Patricia and Serge. There are only five rooms and most of them open to the terrace with a swimming pool so it is very social. Everything is so well thought of, there is a shared fridge with your own shelf for your food and drinks and you can freely use the kitchen and bbq area. Breakfast they serve is continental with home made yoghurt and eggs from their own chicken, eaten on the terrace while watching amazing mountain views you never get tired to see. The pool area, hot tub, sauna, surrounding countryside, all is perfect. There is a very well stocked supermarket and some very good restaurants in nearby town Alte. But what really makes this place perfect are the lovely hosts Patricia and Serge, they are so welcoming, relaxed and friendly and nothing is too much trouble. We just cannot wait to go back!
