What a find, this out of the way little gem of a boutique B&B was an amazing place for relaxation and a touch of history. Alec & Christina are excellent hosts, the evening meal of local pork was delicious, highlight of the breakfast was the homemade jams.

Enjoy a wonderful stay in a special part of the Natural Park Sierra de Aracena y Picos de Aroche at Las Posadas in Alájar providing low impact, environmentally friendly accommodation within a natural park along with invaluable help and advice from your hosts Lucy and Ángel. At La Posada de San Marcos the only sound you will hear is the breeze in the cork oak trees, the babbling of the stream, birdsong and crickets. The view towards the oak clad hill behind us or towards the village and the Peña beyond provide the perfect backdrop from your room terrace or the gardens. The perfect opportunity to experience an environmentally friendly, energy efficient hotel with a superior level of accommodation and disabled access. Relax in our garden and if it gets too warm plunge into our 12 metre pool to cool off or take some exercise.Or alternatively you can stay at our sister hotel La Posada de Alájar, a renovated inn dating from the 18th Century where you are surrounded by the history of its walls and chestnut beamed ceilings. Centrally located by the village square with its restaurants, bars and shops everything is close to hand. Cosy rooms, cheerfully decorated, ensure an enjoyable and comfortable holiday.
We love walking and selected La Posada as a base for exploring the region, and we're so glad we did. Lucy and Angel are perfect hosts and made us, and the other guests, feel very welcome. The rooms are clean and airy, and all have access to a terrace or balcony. We had dinner there on four nights, and Lucy's cooking is amazing - generous portions of local dishes, and wonderful organic red wine to wash it all down with. We had a guided walk with Angel which was very interesting - he is a mine of information about the area, flora and fauna, and made us appreciate our surroundings all the more. We also had the jamon and sherry tasting with him, and if you want to try some of the best jamon iberico I have ever tasted, this is the place to do it. It really does melt in your mouth. Lucy and Angel also provided us with details of all the local walks, most of which can be done from La Posada, as well as wonderful packed lunches - the tortilla and empanadas were out of this world! They have also done everything they can to minimise the impact of La Posada on the environment, and if more hotels did half as much as they do, the world would be a better place. We were genuinely sorry to leave, and have no hesitation in recommending La Posada very highly to anyone wanted to spend time in Alajar. You will not be disappointed. Thank you Lucy and Angel.

We stayed at Casona del Duende for 7 nights, to complete a good number of the extensive routes using the Discovery Walking Guide “Sierra de Aracena”. We were also kindly lent by the hotel owner; “Walking in Andalucia” by Guy Hunter-Watts, who has stayed at this hotel. Several walks can be started from Casona del Duendo, without having to use your car. It is delightful walking, not too strenuous but giving you interesting days. The walks can generally be lengthened or shortened to suit fitness and weather. Sticks are not needed, but good walking shoes or boots are. This is a very peaceful, clean and comfortable hotel. It has a beautiful garden with a pond of amazingly large koi carp. Breakfast has a lovely choice of different homemade jams, breads and cake. The lady owner is very friendly and speaks English. We would definitely recommend a stay.

We had an incredible week here. The setting is just perfect - rolling Spanish wooded hills with a beautiful stream running through. Amazing area to hike and watch wildlife. Whilst there we saw black vultures, common waxbills, Iberian green woodpeckers and tons of serin, siskin, crested tit and nuthatch. The accommodation was fantastic. Rustic and comfortable. It did get cold a few nights so bring some warm clothes if you travel for winter (kind of goes without saying :)) We were welcomed by the owners' friends, Albertino and Ingeborg who were looking after the place for a month and they were awesome. Super helpful and ready to make our stay as perfect as possible. the local towns were lovely too. You can easily walk into Alajar from here where there are plenty of restaurants to choose from. Good times! Highly recommend!

No lo recomiendo para nada. El dueño no tiene palabra y no cumple con lo prometido. Me siento estafada.
