When you enter this beautiful old house on the Haupt Strasse, there is a small area to the left of the door, with benches and tables, but go past the counter/bar and move into the back. There is plenty of room. The brick walls are exposed and the decor is minimalistic and modern. They also serve food outside, right on the MainStreet (Hauptstrasse) where tables and chairs are set up in the Spring, Summer and Fall. The food that is served is out of this world. I have tried many different dishes and like them all. Their salads, are huge...served with different meats. Beware, the portions are large and I have never been able to finish them...usually I eat the whole salad and then take the meat home. My favorite is the "Gourmet Salad with pieces of Filet". Ask for the dressing on the side. Because every salad is made up with a very tasty Oil and Vinegar dressing and then they top if of with an "American" dressing, honey mustard, etc. That is too much dressing for me. My husband really likes the Schnitzel and he orders the XL which means two large Schnitzel, and the L is one large Schnitzel, which is plenty of food. It is served with a mixed salad and French Fries. The pizzas are also good, our grandson from Chicago, loves them and he considers himself a pizza connoisseur.

The Greek food served there, is some of the best I have eaten, outside of Greece. The staff is very friendly and the owners are a hands-on couple...always helping to serve and welcoming you in. The place is old, with a modern touch and just beautiful. I had the Souflaki (Souvlaki) and it was very very good. Others ordered some German fare, which they also enjoyed. At the end, the host came by and served each one of us an Ouzo, free of charge. Not sure why that was done, but noticed that the other patrons also received that same drink at the end of their meal.

My daughter and I stopped in for our noon meal...we sat outside under a huge umbrella in 107F, overlooking the market square and watching the children frolicking in the fountains. We ordered a Leberknoedel Suppe, a broth with liver-dumpling and a Schnitzel with french fries and vegetables. One had a choice of veggies or salad. We shared our soup and our Schnitzel...without any problems they brought an extra plate and extra silverware. The waitress was very friendly and we took the left over Schnitzel and fries home. Our choice of drink was just bottled mineral water. On that day it was just very hot...still very comfortable to sit outside and listen to the Schwedemaennle play its trumpet on top of the city hall at noon.

We try to get to this small and inviting place in the middle of Wiesenfeld (the Birthplace of Dr. Ruth Werstheimer) every time we are in that part of Germany. The restaurant is run by a mother/daughter team, and the food is very very good. Try the Tafelspitz, (Brisket) with noodles and creamed horseradish sauce, made on the premises, with loganberries. That dish is a local favorite and usually served on special occasions, like weddings and first communions. Also their Leberknoedel Suppe (Liver Dumping soup) is very very good, clear broth with a big or at times a few small dumplings. Whatever you order will be very very good. It does not matter if Schweinebraten (pork roast) or Sauerbraten with dumplings made on the premises, or Schnitzel. We were there on Christmas Day for lunch 2014. Even so they had seating and were totally sold out, they still gave us 2.5 hours to eat and leave. Here in the States, they would only give you 1-1.5 hours, the most for a seating.

Located a bit of the beaten path, but plenty of parking available and nice servers. The pizzeria is family owned and a nice place to meet friends and eat very good pizzas. The service is quick and the food very good. A great place to sit outside on the terrace on a hot evening and watch the sunset.
