A traditional pub located amongst beautiful greenery in the quiet village of Lambley. The perfect place for a great assortment of food, drink and conversation. Providing you with a cask and craft ale house with local produce and fresh fish straight from t
We went for Sunday lunch and left feeling very disappointed. The seating was very cramped making it difficult for elderly or infirm diners. Although the waitress was pleasant the service was very slow - we waited 45 minutes for a steak and chips and a Thai Chicken Larb Gai. The chicken was tasty and was ok but the steak wasnât good and the chips were soggy. It wasnât expensive at all but neither was it good value.

Needing sustenance late on a Sunday and finding Southwell totally closed we fell lucky after a table cancellation here.Four traditional Sunday lunches later we were beautifully fed and ready to carry on our journey. Beef and Pork excellently cooked with lashings of toasties and vegetables. Super friendly service to boot so a very successful visit. One minor and personal gripe - extra gravy in a jug would have made it perfect.

This is a review pertaining only to the accommodation, not the restaurant, which I will review separately. We were looking for accommodation prior to attending Southwell races, just along the road, the Dapper Spaniel seemed to fit the bill. Looking at the website and reviews it was obviously a âdogâ influenced establishment. We are not dog owners ourselves and have had bad experiences previously with pet hair in rooms. Because of this I purposely rang before booking and was assured some rooms were pet free and my concerns were unnecessary. On arrival we were shown to our two rooms, rooms One and Two. We took room one, son and partner room Two. We were initially concerned at how small the room was, such that the bathroom had a sliding door as not enough room to open a normal door. Being small was not the end of the world in itself. No wardrobe but a hanging rail in an alcove. However not a single coat hanger, Cobwebs abounded throughout. Tea and coffee facilities were on the window ledge, inaccessible without opening the curtains first. A meagre three pots of long life milk, limited us to only one cuppa each. I suppose more could have been requested. Only one side had a bedside table, a conspicuous gap on the other side. ( a look at images on other reviews shows there was a second bedside table at one point) The toilet cistern did not refill efficiently and I had to push the ballcock manually to refill the toilet for the next flush. Described as âboutique â accommodation, I have no idea what that means. I did not feel that the room was worthy of a £70 charge. ( assuming £10 of the £80 charged covered breakfast) The following morning I made comments to the manageress present, polite apologies were offered but also the comment that ânothing could be doneâ They were aware of the toilet problem as the plumber had looked at it already. Dissatisfied with the response of the manageress I did ring the owner a few days later to let her know of my disappointment. I was told the bedside table was removed to make room for a dog bed! I was pretty shocked as I was told on enquiry dog free rooms were available! So we had no dog, yet the furniture had been removed to accommodate those who may have a dog. Surely priorities are muddled here? As way of acquiescence I was told a âdeep cleanâ had been carried out. I was told room two was a dog free room, however a recent review stated they stayed in room two with a dog! I was very disappointed with the whole accommodation experience, and dissatisfied with the way my complaints were received.Hi NorthamptonPhil,Thank you for your feedback. You stayed with us over a month ago, and in the period since then, we have updated the applicable issues you made us aware of, including installing a new toilet flusher and ensuring each guest room has adequate hangers and additional milk sachets available for people who enjoy extra milk in their tea and coffee (we are still working on stocking a variety of milk options as per your suggestion) Unfortunately, As we are in a rural location, spiders can be expected, along with an occasional spiderweb, no matter how often our rooms are dusted, and is not a reflection on the business itself. With regards to the dog friendly rooms we offer, there are days that we are fully booked (such as the dates during the races when you stayed with us) and it becomes necessary to utilise our "dog friendly" rooms for guests without dogs, in which case, we do a complete and comprehensive deep clean, which was the case for your stay with us. In room one, which is one of our smaller rooms , one of the bed tables had been removed at a guest's request whilst staying with a dog and utilising one of our dog beds; we did not return the table to the room as we had positive feedback from other guests who mentioned they were appreciative of the additional space. However we have now made a note, based on your feedback, that some guests do prefer the additional table in the room and we will bear that in mind going forward. As you mentioned, we did have a phone conversation a day or so after your stay and I addressed these concerns,as well as explaining that had you have brought any of these issues to our attention during your stay, we would have rectified them for you straightaway. We always endeavor to provide excellent customer service to our guests, but in some cases, when a guest speaks disrespectfully to a member of our team, we are not always able to work to a satisfactory resolution and may need to conclude that "nothing can be done at that time" which unfortunately seems to be the case with this particular situation.

The Old Vol has been nicely done up. It's a decent size & comfortable. There is car parking to the rear and some decent outside spaces. The staff were very friendly and we had some really tasty food. There was a very decent looking selection of beers.Only one thing stopped it being a full on five out of five is the service was on the slow side. It's a winner!

We visited the Admiral Rodney in September, choosing it because it's website advertised a Sunday carvery. Four of us ate in the restaurant and the carvery was wonderful, service was friendly and nothing was too much trouble. We returned to visit Southwell today and chose to eat at the Admiral Rodney again. This time we chose to eat in the bar area which had a lovely atmosphere and a log fire to warm us up. We were served by Val, who was friendly and helpful, and we ordered a range of dishes from the menu. We couldn't fault any of them - I particularly enjoyed the rhubarb and apple crumble! Look forward to a return visit!!

The Bromley is located next to the River Trent in the beautiful village of Fiskerton near Southwell, Nottinghamshire. The major refurbishment in February 2014 brought a more modern feel to this traditional country pub with a fabulous double sided log fire
We enjoyed our meal here, both had the roast, very tasty. Thought the portion of meat was a little small! The carrots and cauliflower were undercooked. Hence the 4 stars. The serving staff were attentive and the beer was well kept.We have booked again for another try!
