Iâd been searching online for somewhere that did a brilliant Sunday roast and decided to go along with someoneâs brilliant review of this restaurant. Iâd read the previous reviews online and was a bit dubious about going here but decided to anyway. Beautiful setting, right opposite a horse riding stables. Plenty of greenery around the pub. We were taken to our table which had a high chair ready for us. It took a long time for our drinks order to be taken as one of the waitresses was having a conversation with another customer (must have known each other). It took a sharp look over for her to realise we wanted to be served, specially as we had a 1 year old with us who was also getting a bit impatient. We had the sharing platter to start (lamb lollipops, chicken and pork).. not the tastiest. Tzahiki had no flavour what so ever, pork cheek didnât look appetising and the lamb lollipops were greasy. Chicken was ok. One thing I canât complain about was the waitress getting the cook to do my daughters roast as a priority because she was starting to get a bit ratty in the high chair. Kids roast was huge! Couldnât fault it. We then had to wait a while for drinks because the Guinness had run out. We ordered the trio of roasts.. pork, chicken and beef. Couldnât fault the meat, crackling on the small side (a thin strip) the potatoes were such a let down! It was like they had been cooked and just sat in the tray for ages! They wasnât fluffy or crispy! Bread sauce was horrible, was very bitter in taste. It was a shame we wasnât ordered any sauces (horseradish, apple sauce) to go with the meat. We asked for more gravy because it wasnât enough already on the plate. Cauliflower cheese was very creamy with hardly any cheese. All in all, an average dinner. Improvements would be the attentiveness of staff members, better roast potatoes & offering of sauces. Thank you for your review.I am pleased to read you have enjoyed the surroundings of The Horseshoes, we are very lucky to have such amazing views and to be so close to the riding stables.I am sorry however that there were issues with your visit. The particular Sunday you visited was challenging and we did not deliver our usual high standards of service. I am sorry that you had to wait for your drinks and did not find the sharing platter to your liking, I will pass on your comments to the team of chefs. It is great to read we prioritised the children's meal and on the whole you enjoyed the Trio of roasts, once again I will share your comments with the chefs regarding the potatoes and other comments you make.Thank you for taking the time to write this review.I do hope you will visit us again in the future.Kind regards,Kelly RichardsGeneral Manager

My husband was given a voucher for beer tasting and a platter for 2. It was a lovely experience, choosing 3 beers from a vast list and variety, with a little snack platter, the platter was a little on the small side, but it was only meant to be an accompaniment to the beer, so no real issue. We were there before the kitchen was open, so not able to try the menu, but we will definitely go back. We were there quite early, so it was quiet, I suspect due to being slightly off the Main Street. There are games on the tables, chess, shut the box etc, I played my first chess game in many years and lost to my 16 year old, spectacularly, good family time ;)
