My wife and I cycled over to the Cock Inn for lunch and it was the first time we had tried this newly renovated establishment and we certainly weren't disappointed.It is a very popular, busy place but nonetheless the staff were welcoming and the freshly prepared food was excellent. As the food is freshly prepared there can be a little wait but it is worth it.My other advice to anyone is always book a table.Just one comment for the management to consider is for a secure bicycle anchor point(s) or parking area. Whilst one of your boundary fence posts did the job, I'm sure a better arrangement could be sorted just like the electric charge points for cars.A big thanks to all the team.

My husband and I visited the Green Man in Ashbourne a couple of times during our holiday to Ashbourne. Although quiet after the Bank holiday weekend, service was brisk, choice of gins - including non-alcoholic gins was excellent. Disappointed with steak cooked well-done despite asking for medium rare. I hate having to send back perfectly good meat because it's just not been cooked to my liking - massively wasteful, so ate it anyway. It wasn't bad, it just wasn't cooked the way I'd asked. Shame that the chips are just bland frozen ones too. You get what you pay for I guess.Hi, thanks for the review. When was this? What booking was you in? If this was the case then the steak meal would of been RE-DONE. We would rather the customer go away happy. Confused about the bland frozen chips comment. The chips are not Frozen?Its always helpful if the customer tells us at the time of The meal because nothing was relayed back to the kitchen to inform them the steak was well done and not meadium rare. Myself and my husband love visiting here and decided to go for Sunday lunch. I eventually had the vegetable lasagne with chips and salad and my husband had the beef Sunday roast.Both of our dishes were polished off and with the friendly service that we received topped it off nicely.I would highly advice that you book in advance as this is a very popular restaurant.Thank you for taking the time write a review for The Saracens Head. Booked a table here on the strength of the TA. reviews and so pleased we did. Accomplished cooking from starter through to dessert for three satisfied customers.Class in the detail like the addition of herring to a smoked fish salad,delicious. The addition of leek to the mash potato and the horseradish to the ox cheek again delicious. The homemade vanilla ice cream was top quality.
