Who said you cant have fun at 61? My family took me Portal World in Joondalup as part of a birtday weekend mega fun package and I have to say, I lapped it up. While sitting waiting for our gaming slot, we watched others engrossed in their VR trip and I thought I wouldn't shout, scream or look so childish - wrong! I was probably worse. Once you don your headset, your head phones and the games start, you cant help yourself, the experience is overwhelming. You would swear you are battling zombie hoards, floating in space, taking on vast orc armies or travelling the world while never moving any more than a few centimeters. The feeling is truly immersive and from the word go, you are off saving a planet, conducting repairs to a space station or hurtling at breakneck speed on roller coasters. There are a multitude of games you can play and there is bound to be something that takes your fancy. The staff are young, really helpful and are there to offer assistance at any part of your session. I did say young but really guys, they are the best and so helpful. Some of the games require you to be seated as they feel so real, it is real easy to feel motion sickness coming on but man you got to try them. I had a go at zero gravity and found myself occasionally tapping my feet on the ground just convince myself that I was still on tera firma. There is coffee and snacks available, the venue is well laid out and spacious. I cant comment on price as iI was told by my family that I was not to be so nosy???? but it's hard to put a price on so much fun. The guys at Portal were kind enough to take some shots of us while deep in the game, it was really useful to recap just how childish we had been. Say it again guys, super great fun, great friendly staff and it's something ALL the family can do together. Get down to Portal World, Joondalup and have yourselves some serious fun, 61 years old and kicking it so you have no excuse.
