This glass-walled bistro is on the top floor of Pointe-a-Calliere, the Montreal museum of archeology and history. Overlooking the Old Port, it is open only for lunch, and reservations are required. My wife and I opted for the L'Express menu, with just two choices, a salad, or a soup and a sandwich. The latter was grilled cheese, made with Quebec Sauvagine cheese, bacon pieces, and onion, apple, maple jam! The soup was a seasonal pumpkin, and the meal included french fries and a small green salad, all for $12.95!The other option was a three course table d'hote. There was a good choice of wines by the glass, at fair prices. Service was faultless.

Nice French bistro just off Rue Sherbrooke. Great quality and innovative dishes. Good service, but the space is small. BYOB. Excellent escargot in risotto. Wonderful fresh bread. Duck breast was well cooked and seasoned. Received horse on the tasting menu. Nicely cooked and different. Palate cleansers were loaded with brandy. Butternut squash soup was very good on a cold Montreal night.

Jellyfish is a large, bustling downtown restaurant with a lively atmosphere. The décor is modern, but the extensive glass, ultra-high ceilings and bar made it noisy and not the place for quiet conversation. The menu is very inventive, and the dishes can be eaten individually or shared tapas-style. We particularly enjoyed sharing various crudos, the heirloom tomatoes carpaccio and the grilled halibut. The wine list was extensive and eclectic. The specialty cocktails were inventive and enjoyable. Overall, it was definitely a fun experience that we would repeat if we return to Montreal.
