Sitting high atop a bluff overlooking the Mississippi and Yazoo Rivers, the city of Vicksburg was the setting of a bloody 47 day siege during the Civil War. The site of this epic battle is now Vicksburg National Military Park, preserving original fortifications and the U.S.S. Cairo, an ironclad gunboat that once prowled the waters of the Mississippi River. Vicksburg is also the place where Coca-Cola was first bottled, a fact that is happily immortalized at the Biedenharn Coca-Cola Museum.

Lively and popular casino features over 1,300 slots and video poker machines, a variety of table games and special player events and promotions such as double point days and slot tournaments.
As I recall, the Ameristar Casino was the first riverboat to introduce gambling to Vicksburg, Mississippi. My wife and I were curious. We each lost $10 in quarters at the slot machines, then enjoyed dinner at the Heritage Buffet. Today, there are four riverboat casinos doing business at Vicksburg's riverfront. But the Ameristar remains the largest dockside casino in central Mississippi. So we returned for another round of fun and games and dining. Yes, we each lost $10 (our limit) at the slots. And we watched others try their luck at blackjack, poker, roulette, craps and something called Cajun stud, Head's Up Hold 'em and High Card Flush. We also enjoyed some live entertainment in the Bottleneck Blues Bar. Mostly, we were delighted with our dinner at Bourbon's, Ameristar's upscale restaurant. Who said casino dining isn't first-rate? My wife had lobster bisque, grilled red snapper with mashed potatoes and sauteed spinach and pecan pie. I chose shrimp cocktail, Caesar salad, a 10-ounce filet mignon with a jumbo baked potato and creamed spinach and key lime pie. Ameristar does everything to accommodate its guests, from free parking to a hotel with 149 rooms and suites to an RV park to slots and table games and a special Poker Room to four restaurants, including Bella's Bakery and Cafe. When it's all over, you don't mind losing $10.

one of the best resorts to pleasure your loved ones. euphoria sets in as they gamble and become aroused with the sense of excitement. the cocktails are free and if you want to pursue some excitement with your company. I do. I dress in a skimpy cocktail waitress outfit and bring the liquor myself. be cool, and friendly and there will be fun instead of trouble. I talk to the managing staff first as a precaution. you don't want anyone getting the wrong idea.

My wife and I aren't gamblers but we made time to visit each of the four riverboat casinos located on the banks of the Mississippi River in Vicksburg, Mississippi, during our recent trip to the historic town. Our first stop was to WaterView Casino at 3990 Washington Street. It is the smallest of the four casinos with 30,000 square feet of gaming space but it is one of the liveliest venues. Open for 24 hours a day, it features a hotel with 122 rooms and suites and a casino with 500 slots, tables for blackjack, craps, roulette and Mississippi stud poker and the Lucky Bean and Sandbar Fish House & Grill restaurants. The Lucky Bean offers breakfast and all-day pizza, burgers, salads and desserts while the Sandbar Fish House & Grill delights one and all with fresh seafood and steaks. Curiously, the buffets at all four casinos have been temporarily closed for health concerns. We spent our allotted $10 at the slots, then chewed on thin crust cheese and sausage pizza, cheeseburgers and apple pie while people watching for the rest of the evening.
