Cornish-Windsor Covered Bridge

Reviewed By stevebr0mley - Columbia, United States

We'd been in town all week and had driven within a block or two of this bridge several times. We didn't know it even existed until the folks at the "Americal Precision Museum" told us to take a look. We drove over the bridge to New Hampshire and the back to Vermont to experience the drive. It was amazing and a hidden gem. Longest two span wooden bridge in the world and the longest covered bridge in the United States.

Stop in for a sandwich, a burger, a beer, a big fat breast pretzel and a brewery tour. You can also shop for some Harpoon gear. Very nice outdoor area to sit and eat or just take a break from driving. There’s also some other retailers in the immediate area for shopping. It’s a stop worth making.

SILO Distillery

Established in 2013. SILO Distillery is owned and operated by 8th generation Vermonters. We pride ourselves on creating artisan spirits that can be enjoyed on their own, or in any cocktail. We strive to source all of our products locally, and have succeeded thus far. We use absolutely no artificial sweeteners or flavors, nor do we use Neutral Grain Spirits or chemicals. Vermont is a place where the land supplies a bounty rich in flavor and character, and we like to believe we reflect that essence in our spirits.

It has been a while since we managed to get to the Silo, but definitely worth the trip back. We sampled their cider (a relatively recent offering), maple whiskey (delicious VT maple flavor), and cucumber vodka. We asked the hostess (who may be one of the owners...she sounded like it while discussing upcoming entertainment) about getting Bloody Mary's, which weren't out on the make it your self bar as usual. She pulled out the ingredients and made us fabulous drinks. Definitely a great place to visit.
