I’ve only visited Aberdare park during the autumn, so I’m yet to see it in full bloom during the spring and summer months. Despite this it’s still beautiful even during the autumn, and still worth a visit, no matter what time of the year. One of the main things I loved about this place was all the wildlife around, squirrels, geese... It’s a peaceful place, though I have no idea if it’s the same during the warmer months! I’m definitely looking forward to visiting again soon. Recommended to all who may be in or visiting the area.

Country Park - Accommodation - Camping - Caravan Park - Cafe, All set in 500 acres of beautiful Welsh Countryside Dare Valley has plenty to offer. From walks to outdoor activities to overnight breaks to sumptuous home made food. Come see for yourself.
I’ve been meaning to see Dare Valley Park for a while after seeing it signposted on the A465, so yesterday I finally made the time for a visit. It has beautiful wooded scenery and is much bigger than I previously thought, we spent a good 2 hours walking around and seeing all the wildlife. There were dozens of squirrels around and the place was full of birdsong. There are a few waterfalls (more than I expected!) and it’s also not too far from Aberdare town centre, within walking distance in fact. The only downside was the cafe wasn’t open due to covid, so I plan on visiting again post pandemic as my sister and her partner both say the cafe is very much worth a stop. Overall it’s a wonderful place for walks and for being close to nature, I’ll definitely be visiting again in the future.

Cynon Valley Museum has a unique and unrivalled collection telling the story of the Cynon Valley from prehistory to today. There are also two galleries which host regularly changing exhibitions, ranging from local artists' work to displays debating contemporary issues. There is also a fantastic shop selling local art work and products, and a cafe with a range of refreshments.
Full of engaging displays and two separate art exhibitions, lovely shop with bespoke locally made gifts, cafeteria that caters for all dietary requirements, friendly, knowledgeable staff. An absolute Must i you're in the area!!

This bridge has now been closed off by a perminant railings across the front of it ! Maybe dangerous to cross ? But the local council need to sort this out and repair anything that needs to be repaired as this is an iconic pice of local history and should not be left to fall into a state of disrepair !
