This chain ferry operates from Sandbanks to Shell Bay. If you are in Bournemouth or Poole this ferry provides a quick short cut for access to Studland And the Isle of Purbeck. No booking is required just turn up drive or walk on and pay at the toll booth on the Shell Bay side. The ferry runs frequently and only takes a few minutes to do the crossing but it does save a long drive round. Be warned though in the holiday season it does get very busy and there’s long queues in the specially marked ferry lanes on the sandbanks side.

WE operate from Mudeford Quay to Mudeford Beach everyday in British Summer Time and winter weekends (weather permitting). Ferry times vary thoughtout the year, however ferries depart about every 15 minutes. We also operate a Fast RIB for thrill rides. We operate Bird watching trips in the winter inside Christchurch Harbour and Summer Bird trips and the RED ARROWS at the Bournemouth Air Show.
How great it is to have the splendid Mudeford ferries back in service again. Linking the lovely Mudeford Quay with gorgeous Mudeford Spit/beach, the 5-min trip is also a chance to see that area from the water, while relaxing in the care of the friendly crew. Spot-on. We then enjoyed a delicious coffee at the reopened cafe/beach bar on Mudeford Spit. So thanks to all the staff there too. I think the ferry operates in the summer, weather permitting, from around 09.00 to late afternoon, but suggest you check their website.
