Popeye's Moreno Valley #10385 - Terrible! - This is the first time I've ever been to a Popeye's. I placed an order for 12 piece family along with a gallon of sweet tea. I was told that they were out of breasts, but they would make it up. I confirmed with them that I was feeding 4 adults. They said there was enough. when I got home, there were 12 pieces, legs and wings. The Spicey chicken was undercooked. the mashed potatoes was 50/50 gravy and potatoes. I'm not happy at all.

Subway Restaurants are almost as ubiquitous and consistent from town to town as McD's these days. This Pigeon Pass location is no exception. High points are the fresh-baked breads, the very fresh veggie toppings, the made-to-order menu and the healthy choices available. Prices are quite low for what you get. However, The Monk (that's me) doesn't care for 'lettuce sandwiches' and requires double meat or gets disappointed with the skimpy standard Subway meat quantities. Coca-Cola, not Pepsi is served. This Subway is off Pigeon Pass near Ironwood, just north of the Frederick-Pigeon Pass exit from Freeway 60. There is plenty of parking. Service is usually slow at peak hours like lunch. Tip: Order a foot long Sub and go easy on the vinegar dressing to avoid sogginess, but eat only half the thing now and store the rest for a snack later. Bon appetit!

China One's third restaurant in the chain is the talk of Eastern Moreno Valley among Chinese food fans. With much fresher and better fare than Panda Express, this fresh Asian food establishment is becoming a popular venue for families and the lunch crowd. Although parking in the area is challenging, there are plenty of empty spaces over towards the Target. Be sure to check their informative website at www.chinaonemenu.com. Their overall internet and Facebook presence is noteworthy. The food is made to order and almost nothing is from those usual 'stillborn', dried-out steam tables typical of so many Chinese food places. However, The Monk (that's me!) continues to experience disappointment at Asian places when I try to modify my menu requests and China One is no exception. When I asked for my veggies to be cooked longer to soften them, that did not happen. Communication problems from counter to chef? For this, they drop one TripAdvisor "dot" in the rating. Prices here are also a bit high, but I think it pays for the freshness of the fare. Bottom line: If your expectations are not too high nor are you fussy or picky, China One should please you. When they bring you your food, just say "xie xie" or shi-chi which means thank you. This restaurant is likely to become a Moreno Valley favorite.

Good breakfast most of the time. On one visit, both omelettes were dry and over cooked. On another visit, breakfast platter was great with nicely cooked eggs, crispy thick cut bacon, hash browns, and buttery toast. Mushroom fries were huge. French toast was delicious. Line can be long, so grab a table first before you order. Saturday morning was packed on one of our visits. They have drive through and next time and we will use that for lunch and dinner.
I go here at least once a week when I want something different and good tasting. I usually get the Chicken Teriyaki with double mac salad. The Mac salad is really good, sometimes I go here just to get a family size and bring it home as a side to whatever I have cooked for the evening. My fiance usually get the shrimp and katsu chicken and loves it, she also gets double mac salad. I would highly recommend this spot for good food that is reasonably priced.
