We tried Tara fried ice cream during the weekend which is at Ward City second floor in Gampaha town and the ice cream was super. The place is also very unique and nicely decorated. They call it ice cream kottu as its made like a kottu. There are many flavors and we tried the strawberry, blue berry and Oreo ice cream kottu which were really good. Will return to try some more for sure.

Ja-Ela is desperately short of good restaurants, so perhaps it is not surprising that Pizza Hut is rated No 1 in our town, according to Trip Advisor. We have eaten several times at this Pizza Hut in the past and sometimes taken home deliveries. Each time I considered the experience as just about OK. So when our 8 year-old demanded a Cheese and Tomato Pizza, from Pizza Hut the other day, we were not very enthusiastic. His Mum makes pretty good pizzas but uses Cheddar and our son has learned that a pizza is only an authentic pizza if it uses Mozzarella, so our local Pizza Hut was invited to deliver. We had the Super Supreme Italiano and surprisingly it was hot, fresh and tasty. Our son also rated his Cheese and Tomato. We were impressed both with the meal and with the wider range of food available now. Pizza Hut, with more than 50 branches throughout Sri Lanka, seems to have raised its standards and probably deserves its No 1 status in Ja-Ela. I wish however that there were more good restaurants here to challenge Pizza Hut.
