My husband and I ate dinner at Subway in Bayeux after having spent the day touring the WWII sites in Normandy. I would have preferred actual French food, but my husband was wanting something a little more familiar after weeks away from home. The service was very good and fast, and the woman putting together our sandwiches was so kind and patient as I attempted to name all the toppings in French. It was fun to see how there were slight variations in toppings between the American and French versions, but on the whole it was very similar to what we are used to.

This is a take-away Boulangerie/Patisserie, of the franchised chain type. I used the branches in Amiens and Abbeville on my recent visit. The sandwiches were fantastic; French style half baguettes with various fillings. Then there was the wide choice of pastries which all looked very inviting. The "tartelette framboise" (raspberry tart) was one of the highlights of my trip!Both branches have tables and chairs outside for customers to use. Sitting outside the Amiens branch in the sun at 9am with coffee and warm croissants watching the world go by.....Service was very friendly (not always the case in France) and the "menus" (meal deals in UK) were reasonably priced.A great place to go for breakfast croissants/coffee, or lunchtime sandwich.They are even open on a Sunday, which is most unusual for France.

We were looking for quick inexpensive lunch that our three young tired American children would be happy with. We'd had crepes twice, so were looking for something different. I wasn't sure we could succeed. The guys behind the counter worked with our lack of French to order burgers for the kids and a gyro sandwich for mom and me. We got fries with everything and had an abundance. We got it to go and ate in the Mill Park around the corner. Everyone was full and happy and the cost wasn't too bad. A win, even in the rain!

Just read the other reviews and have to write my own. Wanted 3 pizzas to take out tonight as we could not all leave the hotel. Found this place. Menu on English. Lovely lady served me. She was really nice about my lack of French. 3 pizzas ordered. Took about 10 mins. Grand frites were lovely as well. Easy. Cheap. Good pizzas. Nothing to moan about and I suppose we all view things differently. If only there was somewhere to buy a cold take out beer in Bayeux!
