Our head chef Tom Moody fuses contemporary and traditional British cooking and adds an appealing local twist. Tom carefully selects the best regional, seasonal ingredients, while supporting British farmers, fishermen and artisan producers. The restaurant
Thereâs little doubt this chef can cook. Excellent canapés were followed by dishes showing real understanding of flavours, textures and presentation. Stand outs were a veal sweetbread topped with puffed rice (lovely texture contrast) in a very light Japanese curry sauce, and a beautifully cooked halibut with Jerusalem artichoke. Side dishes were however memorably average (a dish of French beans at £4 contained just seven beans, padded out with crème fraîche, and supposedly fried heritage potatoes were just steamed potatoes momentarily tossed with butter, again £4). We didnât eat desert, but a desert-cheese crossover course (a menu innovation I love) was terrible - hot in some places, fridge cold in others, clearly not freshly prepared. Service was ok, but the white wine I ordered was brought out in a bucket and I was told it would 10 mins before it was ready for drinking. Why do this? Tell me before itâs brought out and offer me a choice to order something else or wait. As it was, we ordered two glasses of something else while we waited. These werenât comped as they should have been (our bottle was £82 so the restaurant was making a great margin on that). Although we left the cheese and said it wasnât adequate, it wasnât taken off the bill. The room itself, although in a lovely old property (albeit with modern attachments) was strangely dull and lacking in atmosphere, perhaps due to small, uniform, painfully new feeling tables. All in all, excellent cooking, the cheese aside, but not a great restaurant experience. Dear JacquesHughes,Thank you for your constructive feedback following your dining experience at the New Minster Mill.. I will be certainly discussing a programme of retraining with the restaurant team and Tom Moody (Head Chef) and I will review your helpful comments.I am really sorry on this occasion the service and cheese course let down this experience.Best wishes,Beverley Molmans

Gastropub quality food, now dog friendly, intimate surroundings, pleasant service, menu surprises such as Indian Fish and Chips 2 years ago, and friendly staff. Hygiene generally o.k., moderate pricing a plus, and unlike the Carterton Hacketts where I live nearby, there's enough room for larger entourages of people. Breakfast here has been good before, the veggie options are decent too. A fave food here: Hacketts Paninis. Also, live jazz in the last decade, I really enjoyed it.

Our sociable bistro is the perfect place to refuel after a full day. With local attractions such as Wychwood Brewery, home to the legendary Hobgoblin beer, and Cogges Manor Farm as well as the shopping centre nearby youâre bound to have worked up an appet
I have eaten in Cafe Rouge in Witney and other places before so thought I knew what to expect. The decor is good, the staff were lovely, the service good and of course the prices are very reasonable. However, although my starter and dessert were fine, the mussels were not. They had not been cleaned well with beards in many and there were so many broken shells that I was not sure whether the mussels inside them were good or bad so had to leave them. They were overcooked and dry and the juice was inedible because of all the bits of shell. As two of us had the same experience this did not seem to be a one off unfortunately. However, I will go again but just not have the mussels!

We dined on 2 consecutive nights, and on each occasion were treated to super flavour combinations - subtle, exotic, warm, deep in equal measure. The menus is extensive and the set meal combinations served us well on both nights; had we been able to visit again, we aould have ventured further into the a la carte, which offerred further tantalising treats. Our host was charming, helpful and friendly and we were made to feel very welcome. It was a real pleasure to dine here, and we really hope to return soon. I would highly recommend a visit and suggest a booking to avoid disappointment.
