Lovely food but so slow to deliver ,had drunk our bottle of wine before we got the fourth course ! 3 hours altogether Dear farmeggs, Thank you for taking the time to review us. We would have loved to know what you thought about our food. We're sorry that the tasting menu took too long for you, we do explain when booking that we ask people to arrive between 7pm & 7:30pm and people usually leave 9:45pm - 10pm. Perhaps any of our other services, lunch and dinner, where we serve a la carte would have been more suitable. Kind regards, Bridge Cottage

Rang beforehand and booked a table for two. On arrival we were seated at a table right next to the door, the till and the wine fridge. In the first 5 minutes we had the door constantly opening and closing which was freezing, someone leaving waved their hair and coat over our table knocking cutlery flying and my husband was asked to move twice so staff could get in the fridge. Asked to move and got a more than frosty response from the lady owner who insisted no tables available despite being half empty. Thankfully the young waitress suggested a table on the balcony could be cleaned for us and we were moved. Ordered a nice red wine but not available nor was our second choice so opted for Prosecco. It was vile!! Very cheap and nasty tasting so we left most of it as it was so acidic it was stomach churning. And then there was the food. Veg calzone crust was so hard I couldnât cut into it. Swapped to a sharp knife and when I did get it open it almost empty and absolutely no taste. Hubbys funghi pizza was burnt black and the same rock hard dough. Worst of all it was all so bland! For an Italian restaurant to serve food with no trace of garlic, basil or even oregano something has gone very wrong. I have given one star as the young girls serving were very nice and were constantly apologising for the owners attitude. Wonât be going back.

Ate here on our first night in Whitby, staff are always warm and welcoming at this bar. We ate upstairs it wasnât noisy or over crowded but had a lovely ambience. On recommendation I had the chicken with sweet potato purée which was delicious and just the right portion size, my husband had the seafood linguini which he also enjoyed. We have wanted to dine here for sometime and it was worth the wait.

We are a family of 4 and wanted to visit this restaurant for the 2nd time. We had to wait a little as we hadn't pre-booked, but the smells from the kitchen made us even more hungry! We all ordered something different and all thoroughly enjoyed our meal. No starters or pydfings were needed, the plates were overflowing! The star of the show had to be the fish platter, amazing assortment of seafood at such a good price.

Superb food as always at ditto's! The attention to detail, the combining of surprising ingredients to make delicious dishes for every course and the delightful ambience and service are second to none. Plus, as a gluten-free guest, I am always offered choices and alternatives which means my partner and I can both enjoy our special dinner. The Malbec wine was excellent and our glass of dessert wine complemented the gorgeous custard tart/chocolate parfait beautifully.

Visited on a trip to Whitby on a wednesday evening; intimate quirky place with a really nice atmosphere. Food was excellent, reasonably priced & staff friendly & helpful. Worth booking in advance I suspect (we did) as not very large but very popular. Highly reccomended.
